Devamp Pokemon

Hi, i think it would be a good idea for some of the more experienced spriters to post some of there work for the more unexperienced ones, so they can see how things are done. for example, devamping a mudkip into G/S/C. this could really help alot of people and i posted something like this on twilight hacking but i have no idea what happened to that website.  :D

Also not sure if this is the right section for this topic so sorry if it is in the wrong

Re: Devamp Pokemon

Twilight Hacking has been out for a half year or so now.

Mr. Magius made a new one to replace the alternate Tw.H. but nobody really joined there...

Re: Devamp Pokemon

I devamped some 3rd&4th gen sprites, but i made them to fit 1st gen, so their palette is just one color and not two different (for example i think that mudkip for 2nd gen would be lightblue and orange, while mudkip for 1st gen would be only blue).

Here are some of the one I made for a pkmn blue hack I'm working on (I'm planning to add new pokemon so I devamped them)..
271decol.gif

392decol.gif

471decol.gif

Devamping is pretty fun. If someone needs devamps (for both 1st/2nd gen) I can help, because now I'm on vacation (I gave tha last exam of the season today!!).

Re: Devamp Pokemon

Here are a few I've done.

glaceonfront.png

pkmn11b.png

rotom.png

swampert.png

Glaceon is the same size he was in D/P, as is Mudkip for the most part, he was slightly shrunk to fit in 40x40 pixels. Rotom is actually redrawn from scratch to be the right size, and Swampert is resized more heavily than mudkip to fit in 56x56 pixels.

I actually have quite a few of the devamped Pokemon. I'll post some of them here a bit later, I'm not on my computer with my ROM hacking stuff.

Re: Devamp Pokemon

I believe I've also played that hack. It was Treecko that you could choose, correct? I don't remember the name of that hack, but it was rather fun, even though it was very short.

Re: Devamp Pokemon

Well, I originally shrunk this down to 64 x 64 for the GBA hack I'm doing; but, figured it could use a GSC devamp:

warglegsc.png

Wargle, from Black and White.

Personally it's my favorite 5th generation Pokémon so far.

The Pallete: Blue came from Lugia, the Red from Ho-Oh.

Feel free to make changes if you want. I've indexed it so it's only the 4 colors allowed. So, when you save it as a .bmp it's easy insertion.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Same story as Wargle:
kibagogsc.png

Kibago, the tusk Pokémon. This was a lot easier to devamp than Wargle. Wargle I had to clean up the sprite since it wasn't still 100 % easy to edit.

Kibago's Pallete: Green from Larvitar, Red/Orange from Cyndaquil's fire.

It's an awesome idea.
Plus, it's a way for people who don't hack GSC to help with some part of it.

Another sprite, this is an interesting one. I went and devamped a sprite that's from a Remake of these very games. Gold's HG/SS in GSC style:

goldgsc.png

The pallete obviously comes from the original sprite.

This is very nice, maybe we can work on a trainer back sprite (inbattle) from HS/SS, it would be very nice  :D

Re: Devamp Pokemon

This is the backsprite of the player in HG/SS..
hgssgoldback.png

I took the palette from the frontsprite made by ssj4furanki.
It's 56x56, I'm not sure what's the max size for backpics in GSC (I'm more versed in 1st gen...)

Re: Devamp Pokemon

I made Electivire, but couldn't decide what shade of yellow I should use, so i used them both (now I realize that it can be used in Crystal for the animation, just an idea..)

Re: Devamp Pokemon

riolugsc.png

Another devamp, Rilou.

For Palletes, it uses Suicune for the Light Blue and Dophan for the Greenish-Grey.

Sawakita nice job on the backsprite.

Same with Electivire. I honestly thought you used more colors than allowed, but checked it. It checked out. Wow, it looks really advanced for GSC sprite.

Re: Devamp Pokemon

Another HG/SS to GSC Devamp; but, of an already existing Pokémon in GSC:
charizardhgssgsc.png

Charizard

I always liked it HG/SS sprite and felt like devamping it. So here it is.
The Pallete came from the GSC Charizard.

-----------------------------------------------
Also, the 3rd Black and White Pokémon put up here, Munna:

munnagsc.png

It's Pallete comes from Blissey for the Pink part and Smoochum for the Purple part.

I devamp Elekid from HG, even though I prefer much more the original gold sprite---->Poke239(Oro).png

This is the devamped HG one---->239.png

Palette is the same, as well as size (48x48). Perhaps antennas are too dark, what do you think?

EDIT:
This one is less dark, but still doesn't convince me at all..
239chiaro.png

EDIT 2:
And to make the pair with Riolu, I made Lucario (palette: red=Beedrill, blue=Squirtle):

Maybe Elekid in general is too small. The GSC still looks bigger despite them both being 48 x 48.

Another Sinnoh Pokémon, Croagunk (personally one of my favorites)!

croagunkgsc.png

Pallete: Blue is from Puiptar, Red/Orange is from Cyndaquil.

Very nice! I like croagunk too.

And this is Magmortar (64x64, same palette of Electivire):
