Move Relearner in Gen 1

Hello everyone

I'm trying to port the Move Relearner from the Red++ opensource to my own engine, and by and large it's working pretty well. For some reason, though, the game outright crashes (invalid opcode) when I try to select certain moves (Tail Whip, Double Kick, Slam), and I cannot figure out why, for the life of me.

I've tried everything such as moving the TXT script that handles the selection, moving the RAM that the relearnable moveset is in, etc. Nothing seems to work. I've made mods to the existing Red++ to try to emulate this and nothing seems to happen there. Has anyone tried to do this and run into the same problems?
