How do i add new tileset for Pokemon Gold? and get it to work in game?

How can i change the tilesets in Pokemon Gold? I am using Polished Map and i need help.

I do not use Pokegold,so I'm not sure if it's the same process.Polished Map should help you.Also,modify the map header.

Hi! I have a similar question for pokered

I'm using polished maps to edit the existant tilesets. I'd like to know how do You edit the collisions or at least visualize them easily without trial and error.

In example, i'd like to edit the forest tileset adding the standard buildings to make a Town with it. So I need to know which tiles are solid and which are pasable, which can warp You, etc.

I know some of the files related to this, like data/tilesetheaders (lets You assign which tiles are "grass") and engine/overworld/Doors (i think lists the warp tiles). I also think that the water tiles are always $14.
There are the .tilecoll files but them don't seem to be readable.

So what's the better way to handle a tileset edit like that?

Also, if edit a tileset like "cementery" and make blocks with $14 i could surf on them? Or is there another step needed?

the .tilecoll files in pokered are binary files for some reason, so you will need a hex editor to change them. they are just hex IDs of tiles you can walk on when they are used in the bottom left corner of a player-sized block of tiles, ended by $FF. It would be much more user friendly if they were .asm files with the tile IDs written out, or if polished map supported editing them. I replaced them with .asm files I wrote listing tile IDs when working on Red++.

to edit the map headers in pokegold and change which tileset a map uses, you will need to look in data/maps/maps.asm, find the entry that corresponds to the map you want to edit, and change which tileset constant it uses. So, for example, if you wanted to edit the basement of the Burned Tower to use the Tower tileset instead of the Cave tileset, you would find the line that says

map BurnedTowerB1F, TILESET_CAVE, CAVE, LANDMARK_BURNED_TOWER, MUSIC_BURNED_TOWER, TRUE, PALETTE_DAY, FISHGROUP_SHORE

and change it to say

map BurnedTowerB1F, TILESET_TOWER, CAVE, LANDMARK_BURNED_TOWER, MUSIC_BURNED_TOWER, TRUE, PALETTE_DAY, FISHGROUP_SHORE
