I'm sorry, I haven't had a chance to sit down and write that tutorial yet, I'll do it today after class.
There are tutorials here already about editing tilesets, and assuming you have Goldmap 1.6, the tilesets are automatically read from the rom. Goldmap itself cannot import graphics though, it just loads the ones already in the rom.

Alright, I'm back from class and all that, so I'm gonna start putting together a tutorial.
EDIT: The tutorial is up. It may take a minute to load if you have slow internet, because there are a lot of pictures. Actually, it has a screenshot for every step and the commentary/instructions for that step are part of the picture.

You could try the old version, 3.00
It doesn't give people as many problems loading, and it supports most of the same things. It also works the same way.

hey mate,when I insert the hero b.sprite,i used pallete 9b3e8745,but when i play the game,the pallete loads to be the pallete of the Hero OW Sprite,how will I fix that?and how can I change the Ow sprite of hero? One more thing,how can I change the trainer pic of hero on the trainer card?thanks.

Trainer card image can be edited with TLP as it is uncompressed. You can find it near the badge images if I remember.
Hero backpic and frontpic should use the same pallet if I recall.
To edit the overworld, I again just use tile layer pro.

yeah,i used the same palette on front and backsprite,but even how many times I inserted the image,i ended up with a red palette,but,on the other hand,front sprite loads the proper palette. Uhm, how can I able to change OW on TLP? Cause it seems that all tiles there have the same palette and there is some place where their palette datas is stored? i cant also change OW Palette on Pokemon Gold Editor.

The 00 at the end is the pallete.
00=red
01=blue (i think)
02=green
03=brown
etc.
If you keep going the colors repeat itself
