[FEEDBACK] Finalizing Move List

Hard to believe it's been almost a year since I last asked for hack help. I'm back!

Before I can finalize learnsets, tms, and egg moves for my pokecrystal hack, I'd like some feedback to finalize my move list.
I introduced almost a 100 moves during brainstorming before narrowing down the overall list to 291 total.
Move List

What to Look For
- Redundant moves
- Unbalanced moves
- Unfeasible moves
- Moves that are needed

I'm not as possessive over these ideas as I am my fakemon, so if you want to use them feel free to.
I plan on coding it all myself, but if you happen to too, post them here ;)

Re: [FEEDBACK] Finalizing Move List

Hello there!

The move list looks overall good, but what do you want to accomplish?

You want to narrow down the list to 255 moves? Or am i missing the point of your post?

Thanks for looking it over.
Narrowing moves down to 255 would be a plus, unless there's a simple way to change the upper limit.

For now, I just want feedback/critique on the overall move selection, especially the newly added ones.

I heard that you could increase the limit on moves by changing it to two bytes like they did with the expand-dex.
I don't know how that would be done, though (not sure which files you would need to edit).

Re: [FEEDBACK] Finalizing Move List

To make each item ID two bytes long you'll need to change the size of every place where an item is used: besides the obvious examples of the pack pockets and the PC item storage, you need to take into account space for held items, item locations on the map, etc. The new limit would be 65535 different items.

As for the attacks themselves, outrage + lash out looks awesome, mainly because dragon types have a very good coverage by stab alone.

Slushball, downsize, liquefy and dart poison are pretty good ideas too. And rainbow wave, but 90 power seems a little excessive.

Re: [FEEDBACK] Finalizing Move List

I'll throw in my two cents:
-Pollinate dealing damage is too good for an additional leech seed effect I feel. This would be one I'd remove
-Void Star is way too good. I would drop it to 90, maybe 100 if it's a signature move for a legendary.
-Is Sucker Punch just priority or does it work like future gens? If it's just like Quick Attack I'd lower the base power to match
-I'd lower Dragon Lances base power by 10
-I would raise short circuit bp to 150
-Would lower Moon Hammer to 80
-Remove Fairy Ring
-I'd lower GUNK SHOT to 110 to keep BIOGENESIS unique as a signature move
-Strength as a Rock attack is really, really good. I'd consider changing it back to Normal
-Since you're updating a lot of moves, I'd add the flinch chance to Waterfall

Hope this helps!

Lash was made specifically for Outrage/Petal Dance/Thrash. Glad you caught that!

Would 65ish be a good BP for Rainbow Wave? It's a signature move for a Mythical legendary.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll take them into consideration.
- I'm not too attached to Pollinate or Fairy Ring so removing them will be fine
- I'll remove one of the secondary effects from Void Star and lower the BP to 100 as suggested
- Sucker Punch ideally works like future gens
- Would Strength as a Rock move work if the BP, distribution, or accuracy were lower? It feels wasted as Normal move that's never used.
- Thanks for the heads up on Waterfall. Totally forgot how uncool it was pre gen 4
- The other BP changes are good suggestions too

Re: [FEEDBACK] Finalizing Move List

Hey

65 is fine for a signature. Or keep it 90 but add recoil or bad accuracy or something. Instead of looking at that move as a 65 power, look at it as a perfect neutral coverage base 130 attacking move.

Re: [FEEDBACK] Finalizing Move List

Hmm... I'd lower Strength to 70bp if you're really feeling it as a rock type, any lower and it'll be unviable. I generally always give it to my normal type, so it sees a lot of use on my teams.

Signature moves should be kept strong, bp 65 means it'll never get used, keep it 90.

Re: [FEEDBACK] Finalizing Move List

Updated list. Managed to trim the number of moves down to 255 at the expense of some of the more unique moves, unfortunately. Casualties include Dragon Lance, Domination, Petrify, Silkscreen, Play Tag, Persevere, No Sweat, Moon Hammer, Sacrifice, Fairy Ring, and Tunnel Wind.
