What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Some of you arriving here may be wondering what exactly happened to Twilight Hacking. Well, I will attempt to explain exactly what happened.

As you all know, I was not the original admin of the site. When I was given control, the other admins were Mr. Magius and Hat. As I took command, Hat voluntarily stepped down. Things went as you know it for a long time, and all was well.

Now, flash forward to a day or two ago. I received a PM from Hat on Twilight Hacking, saying he was around more and offered to lend me a hand running the site. I've been busy lately, what with it being the end of term and all, and he had been an admin previously, so I saw no harm in it.

Last night, as you all know, quite a lot went down in a short amount of time.  I came to the forums as many of you did, to see if anything was new.  When I got there, I noticed Hat had changed quite a lot. Nothing was in the same place, the skin was changed, users were deleted, and he took it upon himself to make me a regular user.

As you will have guessed, I was less that thrilled with someone coming to me in good faith and then stabbing me in the back. I asked if it was a misunderstanding, and after a conversation including me threatening to remove all my content from the board and leave, I stayed on and was granted moderator status.

However as you know, Hat couldn't leave well enough alone, and has deleted basically everyone, as well as the forums themselves. So now, anyone who wants a place to hang out is welcome here, with the exception of Hat. We've seen what you do to forums, and you are not welcome here.

Anyone else, however, is more than welcome to come, contribute, hang out, and whatever else they like  ☺

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Hat has since deleted all members besides himself and Mr. Magius. Though browsing privileges for guests are extremely limited, I was able to access the member list to confirm this.

I'm sorry to say this has been a long time coming. Though I didn't foresee it, weeks ago Hat PMed me randomly about "drinking blood" in an almost sexual manner, and many of his posts seemed rather off or coming from someone not entirely there. I fear he's had a break-down of sorts, but I doubt we can offer any help with him purposely distancing himself.

For now all we can do is start again here, in much the same way we were before. If anyone has any links, tutorials, documents, or files that were once posted on Twilight, be sure to post them here again so we can regain access to those resources.

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

I’m not sure if anyone else was aware of this--Hat used to be a member of RHDN, but was banned after he edited all his messages and bumped a number of topics with random nonsense. I asked him about it once and he never gave a clear answer, so I left it alone. Obviously I should have known he was capable of pulling a stunt like that again.

Quick, grab any useful links from Google’s cache before it’s gone!

We should also be sure to inform as many of the active members of the forum as we can about the move. This place isn't exactly as easily-found as it will be.

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Indeed. Just posting links in our signatures won't get the place up and running as quickly as it could. I tried PMing a lot of people on Twilight Hacking, but since Hat deleted everyone and took the board down, they'll probably never get to read what the PM said. So we should try PMing them on Pokecommunity as well.

I was actually online when it happened. Luckily I had a chance to get Mateo's message and come here. As soon as I read it, the forums and members were removed.

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Yep. It was... quite an ordeal. Haha the day the site died, my plan had been "Ya know, I don't have much to do today, go check TH and then I'll get on adding events to all those pokecenters." Which then turned into "Ok, now time to create a new message board, set it up, invite people, and spend the day looking for and copying over and reposting things from Twilight Hacking"

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Well, lets just say the Pokemon centers in the Christmas Hack are exactly the way they were when the board died. But its alright, in a way. I'd been meaning to get the skeetendo site and boards back up anyway, and had never been bothered to. This made me find time to. Next step of course is to give a front end to the site.

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

I predict that Skeetendo will not get a lot of members or visitors, since all the Pokemon hackers are hacking FIRERED instead of the original read

if you will notice, skeetendo has a page for advanced hacks as well, but there are still people who like the originals as well.

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

I predict that there will be more 3rd gen hacks than 2nd or 1st gen hacks here in the near future, but it is most likely that this forum will not get many members as Twilight Hacking is now gone, we need to advertise this site, make a logo or something

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Well yeah, we do. And we are working on that. The site has only been up for a total of... 2 days? 3? You don't become Pokecommunity overnight.

And I also predict there will probably not be as many as you suggest, as the site is mainly focused on 2nd and 1st gen and will be advertised as such. Third gens are welcome, but it is mainly focused on the first 2 gens

Hmmmm... Do you think we would get banned on Pokecommunity for making a thread advertising this forum?

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Well, Pokecommunity has a rule against making threads for other forums. Once we get the main page created, we can make a thread for that, and link to the forums by way of the main site. But for now the best way is links in our sigs, like a handful of us did with Twilight hacking. Its ok there, and its simple because people see it without actively looking for it.

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

To masterge77
One of the main reasons 3rd gen is hacked a lot is because it is easy. I believe there is tools for almost everything in the game so there really is no experience in hex editor.

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

Yes, but that's a problem, as gen 3 is WAAAAAAAAY over hacked, and about 90% of all the 3rd gen hacks use FireRed as the ROM base, the remaining 10% use the other 3rd gen games, and out of all Pokemon ROM hacks of all 4 generations, 75% of them are hacks of FireRed, face it, FireRed is overhacked and overrated, we need more hacks of the other games, all 4 generations, not just FireRed, all 4 generations deserved to be hacked

Re: What happened to Twilight Hacking?

I feel pity for Hat because of what he's done to Twilight Hacking—a perfectly good site—and knowingly taken away all of the time we've consumed on the forums.

I remember when we first met, him and I wanted to start a forum, so I took my time to host it for him and everyone else. So I added the categories and forums and we were ready to go, and that's how it all started. I'm glad he was unable to delete me because I was the founder of the site, so I still have complete access to it.

If you all like, we can start fresh and I can replenish Twilight Hacking in the same place, with all of the Mods and Admins in the right place...just without Hat.

And I'm sorry I couldn't stop him before he did all that. I couldn't get on much.

I wouldn't mind us starting twilight back up. I mean I'll still be keeping this one up too, after all two is better than one. But yeah I mean its up to you man.

Restarting Twilight, hmm. (Can deleated posts be un-deleated?)

Redux is 'on hold'. I have however found the files, but it's still (pretty much) dead at the moment.
I wonder if that's actually a good thing...

Well if everyone's all up for a new beginning of Twilight Hacking, I'd be glad to do it. So expect a return very soon!

By the way, if you had a staff spot, such as Moderator or Administrator, write it down here. The only people I remember being staff were Cartmic, Mateo and Redstar. Sorry if I forgot about you.  ☹

I wasn't staff on Twilight, only here, though Mateo says he'd considered me. If you want to make it happen, feel free.

I'm glad to see this phoenix rising up again. I miss the old skin and that particular forum's mechanics. It'll take me awhile to get used to this place's, but I have a feeling it'll soon enough make me think of "Skeetendo".

Ah, my mistake. But you seem like a respectable person and it would be unfair if I said you'd be on the staff and then I said 'nevermind'.

Well, for those who didn't see the announcement, the site is up.
