I'm tinkering with some things I had always intended to be new evolutions with the rules of the game from back in the old GB/C days, but with more modern games have become "forms."
So, as a point of preference, what is the general Gen1/2 preference? Forms or evolutions?

You'll have an easier time implementing evolutions than forms. Although if you want to switch back and forth between them, or if they're variations on one Pokémon and not a more powerful new shape (e.g. Unown letters, Arbok's hood patterns, Cosplay Pikachu) then I'd say do forms if you can.

What I'm looking at right now is the CatchRate value on the Player & Trainer Pokemon for some fun-ness.
Nothing else in the code utilizes it that I can find.
In know in G/S it was used as the held item space for the player and trainer Pokemon.
I'm THINKING I can use that for storing Form states. Check the value or check the bits and then load or calculate as appropriate.
