Sounds good.  I added Sunkern and Sunflora earlier today.

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

Shantytown, could I ask you to test a bug I'm having? Could you open up the evolution stone menu (as in, select a stone in the pack and go to the Pokémon menu), and then, without closing the main menu, go straight to the Pokédex?

I'm getting this error here where it takes you to some thousands-high Pokédex entry if you do this.

tMEN2od.png

Picture of it.

I'm not seeing what I could have done to cause it; I noticed adding more than three evolutions to Eevee caused a separate graphcial glitch, but I've reverted that change and the Pokédex glitch remains. I also added the Dark- and Steel-types, but again reverted that change to see if it fixed things, and it didn't. I'd just like to make sure this isn't already present so I know whether to drop everything and start over with adding this batch of Pokémon.

Aha!  I noticed that pokedex bug a long time ago, but I had trouble reproducing it.  Now that we have a repro, it should be fixable.  I'll take a look tomorrow.  Not positive why adding more Eevee evolution would cause a problem.  Although, it might be related to how large the wram section is that the evos_moves data is loaded into. You can still add Umbreon and Espeon.  We'll just add the evolutions to eevee later.

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

Espeon through Misdreavus have been added, with the Eevee evolutions for Espeon and Umbreon commented out. The Dark- and Steel-types were also added.

I can handle Dunsparce through Granbull next.

I don't know if you have a full plan regarding pokemon sprites yet but I'm currently editing 152-721 plus forms and others (beta pokemon, megaevos, orange islands etc) into the style of yellows sprites and would be more than happy to share them as I finish them if needed. I've also been editing trainer sprites and have most important trainers from gen I-V if they would be useful.

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

At the moment, I'd like sprites for Togepi, Marill (called Pikablu in my hack as a nod to early info), Snubbull, Phanpy, Misdreavus, Bellossom, Crobat, Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Politoed, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Murkrow, Miltank, Houndour, Blissey, Espeon, Umbreon, Steelix, Kingdra, Slowking, Scizor, Heracross, Tyrogue, Slugma, Porygon2, and any evolution thereof that doesn't have an official Yellow sprite. Thanks!

Oh, I almost forgot: since you mentioned working on Trainer sprites, do you think you can make a Yellow-style Picnicker sprite based on the Picnickers that appear as Erika's flunkies in the anime episode "Pokémon Scentsation", a Yellow-style Lass sprite based on Giselle's appearance, a Yellow-style Bug Catcher sprite based on Samurai without his armor, a Yellow-style Hiker sprite based on the Hiker that appears at the start of "Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden", a Yellow-style Gentleman sprite based on the Gentleman that briefly trades his Raticate for Ash's Butterfree, a Yellow-style Juggler sprite based on the Juggler Ash battles in "Round One - Begin!", a Yellow-style Psychic sprite based on the Psychics that appear as Sabrina's flunkies in "Abra and the Psychic Showdown", and a Yellow-style Biker sprite based on Chopper (who appears in "The Bridge Bike Gang")?

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

Quick point I edit my pokemon sprites from gen III (and sometimes IV&V) sprites so if there is a particular pose you'd like feel free to ask.

As for trainer sprites I won't be doing more characters from other pokemon series (there are several ready, I'll post them in a thread in a short while) until I've finished gen V-VI.

I don't think we have a plan. We just got lucky that the gen 2 sprites are the same size as gen 1. It would be awesome to use any sprites you happen to create, though.

I've finally merged the Mmmmmmm's latest changes and fixed the graphical glitches that were caused by overflowing evos moves data in RAM. I wasn't able to reproduce the pokedex bug, though...

Are you sure you can't reproduce it? I've updated my pokered, tried a make clean to make sure it wasn't some weird oddity there, and I'm still able to get the bug every time.

What are the exact steps?  I tried using a Sun Stone, then opened the Pokedex.

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

I go to the item menu,
EO59PSZ.png
select the Sun Stone (or Moon Stone, every stone does this),
IA2QUjI.png
go to the Pokémon screen where it lets me decide what to use it on,
0uylCE3.png
go to the Pokédex WITHOUT completely exiting the main menu,
i8vPmql.png
and get this screen.

I forgot to call them, but it seemed nobody else had, so I did Qwilfish through Sneasel, the pull request is already up.

I'll handle Teddiursa through Piloswine next.

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

Teddiursa through Piloswine have been done.

I'll do Corsola through Skarmory next. I have no idea what should be done about Delibird though, since it only learns one move by level-up and that move isn't in Red. I might have to try adding Present, and if I succeed at that maybe I'll try to add a few more moves that have been commonly coming up in Johto learnsets like Feint Attack and Pursuit, just so there are less gaps.

Almost done with the Gen 2 pokemon.  I still haven't gotten around to that pokedex number bug.

I'm so sorry for taking so long; I wanted to add some Gen 2 moves like stated earlier but I took a break after struggling, not realizing the large gap I left in this project's progress. Corsola through Skarmory have been pushed.

No worries!  Gen 1 and 2 are now completely inserted.  Now is where I don't know where we'll get sprites for the rest of them... Sanquii's randomizer is the only complete resource I know of, but the sprites aren't released to the public right now.

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

Doesn't Blue Emerald have front sprites done of all the Gen 3 and Gen 4 Pokémon? Backsprites would still need to be made but half the effort has been made.

Cool!  What size are your backsprites?   This project is using 56x56 pixels.

Re: Expanding the Dex Past 255 Pokémon

Standard backsprite size in gold appears to be 48x48 with fronts of 56x56 (although information online seems rather conflicting in regard to backs). I can send you what I have when I'm next at my laptop and if you want them they're yours. If you plan on using someone else's front sprites I'm happy to recolour the backs accordingly. I already have blue emeralds front sprites on my laptop and planned to do this anyway :)

I think your'e right about 48x48.  I've just been downloading the Gen 2 sprites from this site (http://pokemondb.net/sprites/venusaur).  I believe they all fit in 48x48 pixels.  I just didn't feel like manually resizing all of them.  Could you please post the Hoenn backsprites you've made so far?
