Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow release on 3DS eShop Virtual Console

It's been confirmed that Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow will be released on the Virtual Console for the 3DS. The release date is set for February 27, 2016, the 20th anniversary of the release of Pokemon Red/Green in Japan. It will remain true to the original games, with the same graphics and music. However, trading and battling will be done using the 3DS's wireless capabilities.

This is... interesting.

From what I can tell so far, Red and Blue won't emulate the sgb colors, which is a bummer. This is still pretty cool though. I was thinking about buying a 2DS anyway.

That is pretty disappointing. I was also kinda hoping for a wee little bit of 3D effect thrown in too. For anyone with a 3DS/other 3D device, I was thinking something like this:

I should make a few more of these.

Also, once it's released, hopefully someone from Jul/wherenots will release the ROM/patches and it can be included in pokered depending on how it works (I'm assuming at the very least we'll have some new text strings, even if the rest of the internal stuff isn't gameboy assembler).
