Hello, how you can maybe know I'm trying to restore the missing Kanto things into Gold, Silver and Crystal (for now I'm doing all in U Gold and italian Silver) My idea is of restore the places cutted out in Kanto by Game Freak for time out issues. And copy from Crystal the Dragon's Den event because IMHO is silly that Clair's send you only to collect a simple thoot. The new buildings and dungeons are Safari zone (because was a planned idea in the beta), Viridian Forest, Cerulean Cave, Seafom Islands, Pokémon Mansion and Science Museum. The hack take inspiration by HG/SS for restore the missing places and trainers, expect for Safari Zone and Pokémon Mansion, that not are existing in HG/SS (The Safari zone not is on Fuchsia City and is different) but were planned like demostring the locations names in the internal rom. I've also restored the POKé FLUTE, you'll find it in an added area, maybe the Safari Zone in the secret house.

I've added a script that ask you the useless items that you can obtain from trades with R/G/B that are BRICK PIECE, GOLD LEAF and SILVER LEAF for trade with OLD AMBER and the 2 FOSSILS for obtain KABUTO, OMANYTE and AERODACTYL, You will not have the fossils in your hands or pack, you'll trade the items with a boy that will pass the fossils to the scientist and then you'll receive the revived pokémons. The script is working, but need to be improved, because I don't have an ASM for view a multibox for choose the items to trade, then the boy ask you if you want to trade the BRICK PIECE, answering no will pass to the next item to trade if you have it into the pack, otherwise he will ask you trade with only an item or 2, however check correctly if you have the 3 items to share with him or only 1 o 2 of them.

Cerulean Cave, Pokémon Mansion and the last floor of the Seafom islands can not be accessed until the player will not collected all Kanto badges. And Zapdos outside the Power Plant too will not visible.

I don't know if will be possible add all the new trainers and items (about 23 trainers and 35 items) due to the flag problem, and I don't know if will be possible restore a very working Safari zone, and for now I've the problem of the wild additional pokémon because not is possible repoint the Kanto land data because have to stay in the same bank and the bank don't have enough free space.

TARGET: (contributers are welcome and very helpful because I don't know how create ASM)
- DONE! (Thanks to FroggestSpirit) Add the 3 missing musics Cerulean, Cinnabar Island and Route 24/25 from HG/SS (GB player versions)
- Change the picture of 2 unused pokémon (like FF and FE) for view the fossils in the MUSEUM
- DONE! (Thanks to Miksy91) Find a way to add wild Kanto pokémon
- Add a decent function for the SAFARI ZONE (also like the BUG CATCHER CONTEST will be cute however)
- DONE! Extend Kanto locations in Pokégear map (for see the new areas)
- DONE! Knowledge of the free flags in both Gold/Silver and Crystal for add trainers and items
- DONE! Copy the Dragon's Den event from Crystal
- And maybe also the Move tutor, because the 3 moves that teach are very important.
- DONE! Improve the event for trade 3 items with fossils (works but is ugly without the ASM of the multichoice box)

Thanks to Rangi the locations alert were updated with the new areas.

Mateo helped me for various done things.

NEW CRYSTAL TARGET:
- DELETE OR FIX the ASM that into a .pkm file set the place of caught, 'cause with the new areas can make errors with a retail Crystal.

I tried it sometime back ...... maybe in july 2014 and left it..... I made museum successfully.... and also the cave but I dropped idea after sometime due to some problem...

Just a bit of constructive criticism here. I feel like Viridian Forest would look better if it used the Ilex Forest tileset instead of the National Park tileset.

Yes, also IMHO, also because I can add easy new tiles to the tileset image. Not is definitive. ;)

However can you help me a bit? I have an idea for add wild data with the water also if are land caves. If change the bank of all wild data (because the bank is almost full 'cause have also the data of the trade/challenge center) will be too hard, there is a way to set the collision byte to load wild water pokémon also if you walk? (in this way I can save space 'cause in the caves have to appear always the same pokémon in all hours of the day) Otherwise a different "Cave" type for the map that can allow to appear everywhere WATER pokémon instead of LAND pokémon?

@LeaderKoko, not is possible, the target is only to finish the work because actually Gold and Silver were a beta games, because Kanto not is finished. GEN 6 not have nothing to share with Gold and Silver.

Viridian Forest is now complete, includes trainers from HG/SS, items that were moved by the fake forest in the Route 2, and all the buildings about the forest were added. I need only to move the wild data in a bank that have the free space, otherwise the forest will not have any wild pokémon in the grass!

I like the idea your adding into the game to bring back the old places that have been removed, im currently working on a project i havent posted here if you would like to help me do the same?

Nope, for now.

However I had found the way to recycle flags, I can use grunt flags also for items, script and hidden items, then the game can be finished, the problem remain only that I can't add wild Kanto data because I need to switch all the wild data into a free bank (I don't know how do this) and a way to add a decent function for the SAFARI GAME. And other two thing less important, but however important, set 2 fossils pic to 2 unused ????? Pokémon for see their pic at the museum and add the 3 missing musics of Cerulean, Route 24 and Cinnabar Island from HG/SS (GB player versions). Then the game will be finished, and I'll do the hack also in italian Gold and Crystal and US Gold, Silver and Crystal. Please help me if you can... For Crystal seems that I have enough free space to add wild Kanto data, but I can't in Gold and Silver... Otherwise there is a way to load wild data by script? I have found a string into the PKSVui that is "load wild data 0x00" can works? Can load wild data from an offset out by the wild bank? If yes and if I can load it with the map script can be works?

Viridian Forest and Seafom Islands are 100% finished with items, trainers and also Articuno, I miss only the wild pokémon, the data is ready to be insert, but I haven't found the way for switch the wild data in a new bank with more free space yet. Tomorrow maybe I'll finish Cerulean cave, Safari Zone and Pokémon Mansion, I have only to put some peoples and define Moltres, Mewtwo and Zapdos scripts, but it's easy, the only boring thing to do will be add the texts, however I have a surprise, a new idea for a new Pokémon Market that will sell items that were available for purchasing in Red/Blue/Green/Yellow but not in Gold and Silver. It's a surprise!

Seafom islands, Viridian Forest, Pokémon Mansion and Cerulean cave are finished. Added Mewtwo, Articuno Zapdos and Moltres, but I don't know why I can't set Zapdos sprite. I need only to remake Blaine and Blue's gym and do the events for the Safari zone and (except wild data) the hack will be finished.

Fixed the traps in the rocket hideout for avoid flags issues, finished Safari Zone (partially, I don't have yet an ASM for the safari game) and added trainers for Blaine's and Blue's gym! Also added trainers in the route above Vermillion from Crystal, that was too empty without trainers. I need only to change texts of people about the missing caves and improve Clair's badge event in the Dragon's Den and I'll have finished!

Really nice work you did here, Halfshadow. Just a couple of suggestions you could try to include for your hack (don't worry, they're mostly easy fixes):

- Add a way to get the Post E4 non-legendary exclusive mons before E4 (I'm mostly thinking about Murkrow, Houndour, Misdreavus, and Larvitar here, although I believe there may be others)
- Add the Celebi event if possible, or some way to obtain Celebi. Possibly before E4 (like, after 7th or 8th Gym if possible). I remember that, in an old hack of mine, I had the old woman at the beginning of Route 25 giving you the GS Ball instead of Sandstorm TM, for example.
- In a similar vein (but perhaps you thought of this already^^) add a way to get evolution stones before E4
- Definitely also add the 3 move tutors as you suggested, if you can

I think that's basically it. Great job! I look forward to try this hack^^ (Altho I'll probably tune the trainer levels up for my own gameplay, heh)

As I can see you can only use the park ball but you can battle the wild pokémons. The ASM is related with the Bug catching contest? If you go to the safare zone after you can't go to the contest that is only once a day? And you are obliged to have a determined wild pokémons? 'cause seems that are the same pokémons of the contest.


@Zarator: Sorry, but I want to make a version 2.0 that can allow to have all the things that were missing due to the time problem that have GF. Before Kanto I want to leave the game almost untouched.

Great job so far. I remember someone else making a hack similar to this, but I can't remember what it was called. It might have been in Japanese though.

I also remember another hack that added the new 8-bit music from HGSS into the original game. I might be mistaken, but I think it was made by someone from this forum.

Very very very thanks to Miksy91 I've added the wild Kanto data for the added places. Now the game need only to have the missing musics, the Safari zone asm and the 2 fossils pic for the museum!

Right, Kanto starters. Ok, I'll try to add a script that give them. However Crystal is the right rom base for Crystal 2.0, Silver and Gold 2.0 must have their original rom bases 'cause Crystal had changed a lot of things, like the Battle tower and was right copy only something from it, like the move tutor and Clair's event in the Dragon's den. Crystal 2.0 will have the same added features (and one extra that is a secret for now) and still will remain an higher version.

Oh yeah, I just noticed that your thread talks about not just Gold/Silver, but Crystal too. Didn't realize you were going to do the same thing with Crystal already. I must have skipped the bit where you talked about doing this with Crystal and only remembered the part where you say you're doing this with the English Gold and Italian Silver. Oops!

I thought you were going to do this with Gold/Silver, and Crystal would be getting no love. That's what I meant. It's really cool to "finish" Gold and Silver like this, but Crystal is in my opinion the superior version of the three, so I wish Crystal would receive the same treatment and have the completed Kanto areas + all the scripts and map events for the legendary Pokémon, etc.

Crystal with completed Kanto + scripts and map events for the Gen. I legendaries, and starters available somehow, would be the perfect hack for me. c:

Will the Crystal hack be based on the English version, or the Italian version? Perhaps both?

I'm pretty interested in this hack, but I would much rather Crystal than Gold, so I guess I'll have to wait until Gold/Silver are done and you begin working on Crystal.

The answer is both. Both english and italian are planned, is my project. However there is a problem with the Kanto starters script, no enough flags available. I have to delete 2 items into the new caves for add them. Maybe I'll do it, but for now my priority is finish the prject with Silver/Gold, for now not is possible add a decent ASM for the Safari zone, then now I'm going to repeat the hack also in the US versions of Gold/Silver (the patch of the new features is compatible also with italian Gold, then is already done), after I'll repeat also in italian Crystal and for last US Crystal. And when I'll find a way to add the Safari zone function I'll finish all 6 roms.
