Re: Pokémon Golden

The table I redrew to look better.  The chairs and drawer were devamped from R/S/E and were "borrowed" from the Midnight Hack.  The computer is also from the Midnight Hack - I think it was made custom for that game (but I'm not sure).

Re: Pokémon Golden

Aaah, now that you mention it I can tell that those chairs are from RSE. The tables looked almost like something from Zelda or Dragon Warrior at first. But cool, looking good.

Re: Pokémon Golden

Thanks, I'm sure some people recognize it from Cave tilesets 21 and 27.  Those stairs going down will lead somewhere in the future but right now I'm just using it for quick warping through the ROM :P

Re: Pokémon Golden

Here's a look at the current Safari Zone map, which is nowhere near finished.  I still have to insert more tiles into the tileset and the trees may use a completely different tile in the final version.

Re: Pokémon Golden

Sorry, wasn't trying to beat yours.  My first Safari Zone design started like yours.  I probably went through dozens of designs before I found one that I kinda liked.

Re: Pokémon Golden

Yeah, I haven't changed the really worked on the step tiles yet, they're kinda a placeholder until I replace them with a better one.  You're right, they are from Tileset 3's half ledges.

Re: Pokémon Golden

That Safari Zone looks awesome. It's like the National Park mixed with the Pal Park, but still different from both of them.

You're right!  I originally based it off of Pal Park, but then I thought of some ideas and they got implemented into the map.

Re: Pokémon Golden

I probably won't get the next beta out until next year, but it's definitely not canceled in any way.

Re: Pokémon Golden

UPDATE:

I accidently deleted my working ROMS folder for my game by accident the other day (I was trying to delete the folder under it, and I clicked it by accident, and I used Shift + Del), so that's not good. I have absolutely no backups except for a really old version of the game from 2009 (back when the game still had the working title of STS Gold). So the next beta release will be VERY delayed 'cause I lot almost everything.

On other hand, I kinda see this loss as a positive thing for the hack. Now that I've learned much more about ROM Hacking compared to when I started this hack in 2009 (way before I joined Skeetendo), I can go back and redo parts that I didn't think were so good anymore.  So the next beta should be much better than the first one.

For right now, I'm actually waiting for Tauwasser to release the updated version of his tileset patch before I get started again. (No rush, Tauwasser)

And for anyone wondering: This hack is DEFINITELY not canceled in any way.

Re: Pokémon Golden

:\

Even though there is the "happy part", it's still not something you'd want to see happening. Did you lose all the graphical art as well or were you keeping them as images somewhere else?

Yeah, I was actually storing them in another folder (thank god).  So I still have the newest versions of the tilesets and graphics, along with the all the custom scripts I have been working on.

Re: Pokémon Golden

You might be able to recover some of the files you deleted:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html

I've used that program before to recover things after I deleted them. Whether or not they are still around would depend on a few things (how much you have used your computer since you deleted them, for instance). When you delete a file, even with shift + delete, windows doesn't go in and write 00s over the data. It just goes to the file table and marks that file as having been deleted. The data is still there, but now the operating system knows it can use that area of the drive to store new files if it needs to. Often times, you can recover these files with simple recovery tools (assuming Windows hasn't decided to write over it with your temporary internet files or whatever else it decided to save that day). But its still worth a shot!

Also, because of the nature of how it works, if you use that to recover files, you will want to recover them to a flash drive or something instead of the hard drive (in case windows decided the "new space" to write it to was where another one of your files to be recovered is still stored).

I knew I was forgetting to mention something before. I actually have already run a recovery program, but it couldn't recover much, but it did recover some IPS patches of games that are longer available, so that was good, but that's about it. Thanks for taking the time to write that post though!
