Hack of: Pokemon Yellow

Features and screenshots:

  • The hackrom aims for the competitive side of the game. Also it can be playeable as Adventure mode.

  • Title Screen slightly fixed (text).

  • Move Type, Power and Secondary effects have been improved to a few moves (e.g. Cut / Type: Bug / Power: 70 / Effect: 10% chance to decrease foe's Defense by 1 stage).

  • All 151 Pokemon are catcheable. Said so, Pikachu can evolve in a certain level to balance the issue of getting a Raichu in the game.

picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=48931

  • Trading Evolutions can be obatined now via level.

  • Learnsets have been improved a lot almost on every Pokemon (e.g. Charmeleon learns first Flamethrower, then Slash) accordingly to later Generations (GSC) to balance the difficulty of the game. Said so, Pikachu (or Raichu) and Psyduck (or Golduck) will be able to learn (via level) an event move.

  • New map layout. A few changes on cities, buildings, routes and caves (Eyecandy). Some of them have been remade from 0.

picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=48932

  • Six moves from TMs have been replaced by more usefull moves.

  • Pokemon Location and levels have been changed. No changes for Legendaries.

Re: Pokemon STRIKE! Yellow Version

This looks pretty cool so far.

Could you try to better describe the problem you are having with the title screen?

When I decided to make this hackrom, I took an edited Pokemon Yellow rom from a guy that made some pokemon location changes and edited the title screen, but just that. Later, I decided to remake most of the things.

picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=48714   picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=48715   picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=48716

I'd like to remove or change the text "WORKS OF BINH NGUYEN" and "BINH NGUYEN" below Pikachu and instead of Yellow Version, the new name of the hackrom. I really dont have idea how to do it.

Re: Pokemon STRIKE! Yellow Version

That's mostly just uncompressed graphics data that you can edit with a tile layer editor.
Check out Tile Molester (I think that's what it is called) or Tile Layer Pro and do the job :),
If you want to find the graphics easily, you can check out how they are written in ram (by checking out the those graphics with VBA's Tile + Memory Viewer), and then just search those bytes with a hex editor.

Apart from that, I like what I'm seeing so far. I used to do a yellow hack in the past as well, but didn't get very far due to also hacking crystal/silver at the time.

Re: Pokemon STRIKE! Yellow Version

This hack looks awesome! And if you made pikachu able to evolve to raichu,  then pikachu won't be so useless than normally! Good luck with your progress! :)

And @Pokemonking he shouldn't use names thunder or lighting yellow because there's gba hacks with those names. ;)

Thunder Emblem is already taken by mitchel1. However, you can use yellow emblem.

That's so sad =( The title screen was awesome.

Anyway, I'm not sure if Yellow Emblem could be an option.

Re: Pokemon STRIKE! Yellow Version

If I was you, I wouldn't really care if a hack with the same name as yours exists already. Besides, mitchel1 left the hacking scene, so Thunder Emblem will never be completed for that matter either.

True. A while ago, I was looking for him and his thread at pokecommunity but it doesn't exist anymore. I thinl I'll keep the name as a possibility, anyways =)

EDIT: Added a screenshot for the new possible title "Dynamo Expert Version"; Learnsets will be fixed just a little bit (like GSC) to balance the  dificulty of the game.
