Some progress updates:
Still working on map layouts. After sunday, the remaining maps will be: Viridian Forest, Silph, SS Anne, Rocket Hideout, and Power Plant.
After those are done, I can get back to coding and finish up the items/HMS and some bugs.  THEN I will play through the game and implement trainer info/text/map scripts (then the release)

Haven't worked on it at all lately though..
I've been busy doing everything else, but not that I would regret it one bit - it's been better this way actually.

Do you mean you're going to release the complete version after all this is done??
If so, sounds like you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the hack done :)

Yeah I know the feeling. You'll get back into it.
It doesnt sound like a lot, but it's tedious. Placing every items and giving everyone text/pokemon adds up.  Plus, the scripting anlays takes longer than you hope.

I'm hoping for under 3 months!

Yeah, I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it is a lot of work - especially since we both do this on our free time.
Don't leak any possible release dates though, that would only make you feel like you have to work on this even if you didn't want to just then.

Yeah, definitely true.  I do want to get it done so I can move onto other projects, so leaking a date might be enough pressure for me to work through.

Thanks ~Red.  Same to you, Hat.  The stolen pokemon will behave just like wild caught pokemon. In fact, I was thinking of removing the traded pokemon behavior, because I don't see the point in a hack.  But I probably wont touch it anyway.

Sorry about not updating the past week and today, I haven't made any progress since two Sundays ago.  Nevertheless, I will finally finish a hurdle tomorrow (adding warps and placing objects on 10 or so maps) and update the website with the Town Map.

In Hard Mode:

The game autosaves all pokemon stat changes, so you cannot cheat.

Sure!  Basically, whenever a pokemon levels u,r recieves some type of vitamin which increases its stats, or loses HP or PP, the game will save that info.  So if you try to reset the game because your best pokemon died in battle, it isn't going to do you any good because the game has already saved that information.

Sorry for the long delay, everyone.  I took a month off to work on other projects (website and web apps) and just got back to this last week.  I will update with the town map when I can!

Update time:  I'm still around and have been working hard, but progressing slowly (last 2+ weeks consisted of a brain boggling bug fix) but I'm back to working on the maps.  Added in 4 tilesets this weekend, and only have 1.5 remaining (and ~30 maps altogether).  I will keep updating this thread with progress reports, but the website will not be updated as often (I'm still trying to force myself to get the town map up there)

20 new tilesets?  That's a lot.  Did you make them all from scratch?

Yeah it took a lot longer than I expected.  A lot were devamps or conversions from other games.  A few sections I created from scratch, though. Part of the outdoor tileset was created by Vagrant of wayofthepixel.net .  I actually used a lot of their designs in the new battle/pokedex screens (and they helped me with my items menu).

Cool, did you have to move collision data to a different bank?  If I recall correctly, it's originally in Bank 0, which has almost no free space.

Also, that forum has some really cool stuff!  Would it be frowned upon if I posted a "Help me with my Pokemon ROM Hack" thread?

I still have to finish the collision for the last 8 or so, so I'll let you know, lol. Though I should mention that I didn't add 20 new tilesets, I only added 1 and replaced the remaining 19.

And yeah they have some cool ideas.  I'm not an active member, but, when I asked to use some designs in this game, they gladly let me.  Also, there is a section there to request for help, but I don't know if they will be expecting any compensation or anything

This past week I have focused on adding some more 'new screens' into the game.  I will get screenshots out soon, I promise.

I've also brainstorming some more about what I can do to make this game unique.  I've decided that I WILL be adding in new types and attacks. The final amount of new types will be 25 (and some of these types have not been found in other pokemon games/hacks, to my knowledge)

I also created some other new features that will directly affect a Pokemon's performance in battle.  The number of new planned items is now up to 43! (Some items were removed, as well)

There's a long road ahead, but I'm still chugging along (still have to finish the maps, I keep getting sidetracked by more exciting endeavours)

Finally got around to updating the website and getting some screenshots for you all.

For starters, I have implemented a Day/Night system, which can be seen in these screenshots here:

Some pokemon will only come out during the day, and some only at night.  Similarly, some events will depend on the time of day as well.  I will also have other uses for this, but they have not been added yet.

All 20 tilesets in this game are completely new, below you can see a few (actually, only 3 tilesets are shown, the PokeCenter and Mart share a tileset)

And finally, here is the town map.  I wanted to try something new, so I stepped away from the in-game town map tiles and added in some of my own, to easily identify significant features of Aster.  Also, I added the Map to the start menu, so there is no need to dig through your item list to use it!

Check out the Map on www.poketre.com to see all of the location names (and in the future, you will be able to click on them to find out about landmarks, mayors, and wild pokemon in that area)

As of late, I've ventured away from the map making (just briefly) to work on updating the title screen.  Check out the screenshots below:
