...for Smogon and I thought I might as well share it in this forum since everybody will easily understand it. I think I came up with a cool and accurate article as I did lots of research and tested lots of stuff here and there. It was a lot of fun.

Enjoy!

I took a little peek (well, I checked all the pictures and subtitles) at what you've got there (and read a little bit of text too).
Interesting stuff (I kinda knew this myself but still) though.
Hard to say if all the information there is accurate or not, but all in all, it looks pretty well done to me.

An important piece of information to add would be why encountering MissingNo. (or 'M) increases your item count for the 6th item in your bag. Oh, and maybe that we're assuming that MissingNo. were once real Pokemon (and mention their cries).

Lookin' good. How is that Hex editor called, because it's useful for me, because it has an R/B/Y Text format option.
Hacks Gameboy 8-bit music in Pokémon Gen I & II, composes 8-bit music in LSDJ and FamiTracker.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Unfortunately, the article was already pretty long for The Smog standards so I had to cut a few things, and that was one of them. Talking about that would also require to explain some stuff about the RAM.

I actually covered this in the "Why do MissingNo. and Glitch Pokémon exist?" section!

Oh. Why does Smogon gotta be a douche like that. That's a pretty important piece of information, I'd think. What else was cut?

Oh, sorry, I only skimmed it and didn't see that.
here is a Pastebin that contains data of each unique MissingNo. cry as well as a link to the audio to hear each cry
There wasn't any link.
Also, you're "General Pokémon Data" table looks a lot like this.

No lol, I didn't mean that they forced me to cut things just that I had a lot of things planned to write about but while I was writing the article I realized it was going to be too long so I had to decide which parts not to write about. Initially I has planned to talk about 6th item thing as well as some exploitable glitches to encounter missingno and glitch pokemon (old man glitch, johto guard glitch) and Hall of Fame corruption albeit I only know where's the data that gets overwritten but don't know why it happens though, so whatever.
Welp, I guess I used the word "cut" wrong. Sorry if you misunderstood.

Lol, I guess they forgot to add the link when they submitted the article. I'll tell someone to get that fixed. They also forgot to format the Pokedex data structure in the third section so I guess ill kill two birds with one stone and tell one of The Smog staff to get both things fixed! This is the pastebin btw: http://pastebin.com/mtrFXj46. I edited it over an already existing pastebin I found in the net. I just added the links to the cries and reformatted the structure a bit.

Yep, I won't hide that I took the idea of the table from that table of yours. It's just so informative yet simple looking that I couldn't think a better way to illustrate MissingNo's GPD. I expanded a bit on some things but as you see the structure is basically the same :P

Cool Story Bro.
@Topic: Good article, maybe you should have split it into two parts and release the latter in issue 28 along with the cut out stuff. Also enjoyed your GSC/ADV analysis for the RBY metagame.

This is a possibility I had already considered myself, to release the other stuff in another issue; the parts that have more to do with the RAM and the save data. However I'll be very busy the next weeks so, if anything, I might release that second part in issue 29 or even 30, though I also have another cool idea for the next smog article I might write. Moreover, I'm also working on updating old gen analyses (particularily rby analyses) along with a few other people and these are generally a priority over the smog articles, at least they were before I decided to try and write for the Smog lol. Plus, I also have a Pokemon Crystal hack I'm working on and I'd like to finish it someday lol... With exams I won't be doing anything regarding Pokemon in the next two months so for then I'll decide if I write a second part about the MissingNo. article, but probably I won't do it though.
Glad you enjoyed the RBY underdog article btw :)
Also sorry for the wall of text, but I really wanted to talk about something else after a hard day of studying lol

Ah, okay. Yeah, you probably got the cries thing from my section on the page at TCRF (my pastebin paste here). That would make sense, since my MissingNo. explanation thing was also on that page.
Speaking of TCRF, I noticed that your article is extremely well-written; it's both well thought out, and very grammatically fluent: not too simple nor complex. I'd like to use (some, all?) of it on TCRF to better explain things as need be. Of course, the question is what parts about MissingNo. should be in the article, and which shouldn't. I would think that only the parts that deal with the fact they were likely unused Pokemon should be in there. But maybe how to access MissingNo. should be in there too, since that's a way of demonstrating it. But then do we need only explain how it works, and not why? Or does the why fall under "things that have changed from different versions" since MissingNo. isn't accessible via the main method in the Spanish and Italian versions (fun fact: in either the French or German versions, attempting to load MissingNo.'s graphics causes a crash. I think it's French, and I'm too lazy to check, but if Tauwasser sees this he can confirm whether or not it's the German version). But then since the other ways weren't fixed, does it belong or not? What a mess! I plan on making a huge post on Jul explaining everything and ask the administrators (*cough* including Sanky *cough*) what should be done. I have other bones to pick with that article too... when I get around to them...
But anyways, do I have permission to use all or parts of this article in the TCRF page, paraphrased and/or verbatim?

Yep. I took the cries audio from TCRF as you can see from the links in the pastebin. Also yeah used your pastebin as a base, iirc I found it by chance for some reason while searching for something related, but I don't exactly remember all the story. Didn't know who the creator was though, I just found it useful. I could've researched for that data myself but that pastebin already had all that I wanted anyway.

Also yeah, go ahead! I don't mind myself, in fact having something of mine in TCRF would be pretty cool. I guess Smogon wouldn't care either, but chances are nobody in Smogon would notice if some parts of the article I wrote for Smog are in TCRF too.
