I have your Red disassemble with the Red/Blue pics. What do you mean by Red/Green? I see no Green in there? Are you referring to the folder 'rgmon'?

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

Have you seen this thread/hack http://hax.iimarck.us/topic/729/? Maybe you guys can work together?

Also, I think you said something about translating the Green Version Pokédex text. Why not just use the already officially translated text from FireRed?

Edit: Any plans to restore Red Version to be more like the Japanese version too (graphics, dex text)? I think that'd be great

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

I do wish people would read more/more carefully...

@TRIFORCE89

If you read the previous posts in my topic, you will see that I have already finished all 151 Pokemon in my Pokedex. I also already translated all the text 100% too. I finished everything 100%, and I am putting the finishing touches on the Pokemon sprites.

About your suggestion, I really do not need their help. I would honestly be afraid to recruit them, because I saw what they did to their hack. I have nothing against them. After seeing how Chaos Rush messed up the Ghost Sprite, and the trainer tile cards, that's too much for me. Also, Pingouin7 messed up on the Unknown Dungeon; they did not do the dex, nor Title Screen. I have already finished all of that myself, in my version and tested it. I have done 50/151 sprites so far. I will be done in a few weeks with those. This matches Green down to the hairline, if you will. Thanks for your interest in my hack! :)

Again, I have nothing against those guys. :)

I did read through this thread, didn't mean cause offence. I'm amazed at what you've done so far, and that it is bug free too. Was only throwing out the other project as a suggestion in case it would make your life easier somehow.

Looking forward to the finished product

I have implemented this change into my latest build because I feel that it adheres more closely to the Americanized spelling of the name. It is a simple SGB tile redo.

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

@TRIFORCE89

Yes, I do plan to work on a Red equivalent to go with my English Green later on. It will be easy, and I will use this as my base.

@TheMoneyOfTheWorld

Yes, the "É" is indeed what has changed, to match the usual logo.

@Everybody

Okay, this is what I have decided to do, since I am such a nice guy :)    :

I am releasing build 2.6, which has 50/151 sprites done so far. I will do 10 sprites a day until it is finished. (Excluding Sunday, and possibly Saturday).

These are the changes:

*In addition to the Pokemon sprites, I did the fossil sprites too.

*Fixed a crash bug in Pewter City; the game in now 100% bug free. :)

* Made the ROM image back into a MBC3 (2MB).

*Corrected some in-game text errors left over from Blue.

*Fixed an Overworld sprite error. (They should all be fixed now).

Count the days down with me til' this gets done. Remember 10 sprites a day, minus Sundays, for those who are interested.

Here is the new link: See below.

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

Very good, we always wanted a USA Green version fully working and with the japanese features, I like it!

I dunno if someone asked it before, but I guess you know that in Pokemon Green (J) when you - in the very beginning of the game - enter in GARY's house and look at the Town Map the dialogue says something like "It's a Map of KANTO!", I've read that was the only point in the game where the region is nominated "Kanto".
Well, In R\B this isn't done - and most of we discovered the region's name only in G\S\C.
Did you set that message like the original japan. one?
So when we'll look the Town Map before is given to you in the dialogue it will say also "KANTO", is it so?

I left this forum.

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

@80C

You need to learn Japanese before you make careless statements.

You are mixing up カントー地方 with 関東地方. They are both Nominative substantives. They can be interpreted as both common and proper nouns. Aka/Midori use reference to the latter which can be interpreted as "the Eastern region". In this case, it can be either common or proper; NOA has chosen to leave it as a common noun. Words with identical orthography can sometimes have eclectic interpretations. So it is correct.

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

In case anyone was wondering why I have decided to leave the battle interface alone, it's because Gamefreak has decided to localize it in the American Red/Blue.

Notice these two pics of Green and Blue Japan:

Green
bgb00159_zps3a7275db.png

Blue
bgb00161_zps46886893.png

They did that because Japanese takes up less space, whereas English takes up more. Since my English Green is the localized English Green, it shares a quality that is similar to Nintendo (if not better). So, locally, I left the battle interface alone.

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

I present you with RC 3.0!

List of changes:
*All 151 sprites have been ripped from Green Japanese
*Fixed two textual errors

Problem------

I am having trouble with the Intro Battle screen, getting the Nidorino sound in from Green Japan.

bgb00164_zpsec8d9a7f.png

This is what I've figured out:

0x7C6BD-0x7C6C7 ;affects Nidorino's right hop pitch (maybe, but definitely affects it).
0x7C22b-0x7C22D ;has something to do with the sound that Nidorino makes while jumping right.

0x7C6C8-0x7C6D2 ;affects Nidorino's left hop pitch (maybe, but definitely affects it).
0x7C22E-0x7C230 ;has something to do with the sound that Nidorino makes while jumping left.

0x7C294-0x7C29F Introduction Battle background music (don't think this is relevant though).

I tried 0x7C22b-0x7C22D as an example. I think it may have something to do with this one in particular. I don't know enough ASM, but can somebody please provide me with what I may try? Here is what my BGB debugger said for the the Nidorino jump right offsets, which I put an access breakpoint for 0x7C22b, which is RO1F 422B in the debugger:

RO1F:59D5 7E ld a (hl) [no flag checked]
af=2B00, lcdc=CB
bc=B900, stat=83
de=4000, ly=0B
hl=422B, cnt = 64
sp = DFED, ie= 0D
pc = 59D5, if = E0
ime = 1, spd= 0
ima=1 rom=1F
Another access break hit at RO1F: 59EC = 7E ld a (hl) [zero flag checked]

af=2B80, lcdc=CB
bc=0000, stat= 83
de= 0000, ly=0B
hl=422B, cnt= 10
sp=DFED, ie=0D
pc=59EC, if = E0
ime=1, spd=0
ima=1 rom=1f
Last breakpoint stop RO1F:5B16 = 1A ld a, (de) [zero fla checked]

af=B980, lcdc=CB
bc=0000, stat=80
de= 422B, ly=0D
hl= C006, cnt= 92
sp= DFED, ie= 0D
pc= 5B16, if= E0
ime=1, spd=0
ima=1, rom=1F

For reference, RO1F 422B-422D =

422B = 04 inc b
422C = BE cp (hl)
422D = 46 ld b, (hl)

In the Japanese ROM, I found:

0x7F57C ;affects Nidorino's jump to the right
0x7F580 ;affects Nidorino's jump to the left

;these are only four bytes compared to the English version's 11 bytes, found at 0x7C6C8-0x7C6D2 and 0x7C22E-0x7C230 that I mentioned earlier.

What am I missing? What can I try? Is the answer found in the debugger info that I just mentioned?

Here is the RC 3.0: See below.

@Frogg
Thanks for your help. :)

Here I present you with build 3.8c.

*I fixed the Nidorino pounce SFX to that of Green Japan
*I fixed Mew's Pokedex entry (There were no grammar errors, I just made the English more formal)
*Corrected Viridian's overworld SGB palette to match that of Green (I made the green color a tad bit darker, to ease the eyes. Same color green though)
*Made the Titlescreen scroll like it does in Green Japan (Thanks to some help from padz)
*Changed the Titlescreen SFX to that of Green Japan.

Here it is: Please use the link below.

Re: Comments on my PKMN GREEN Version

Well here it is! I present you with RC 3.9, the final release!

Please note: This is NOT a beta; it is the final release!

List of changes:

*Neatened up some code
*Improved the badge screen

Thank you for your patience in waiting for this English Green to be complete. This is not "Engrish"; it is proper English with better grammar than the original Red/Blue. This game is 100% bug free, and has been fully tested. If you find any problems, or feel that I left something out, please let me know.

Download link: See below

Picture of the improved badge screen:

bgb00212_zps55d7cea5.png

@virus95x
Can you please make this a .jar, and delete the betas? Thanks.

To maintain the integrity of my work I always fix the complementary checksum of each build. The final checksums are:

Header Checksum: $89
Global Checksum: $D6 $10

If the checksum does not add up to this, it is either not my work, or a beta build.

Here is a link to my restored Red Version, to go with this: http://hax.iimarck.us/post/25986/#p25986
