ISP's taking over copyright affect this site?

For all the American users, I'm pretty sure you're aware of how the Copyright Infringement branches of the government gave our ISP's power over napping all the illegal downloaders for the downloading, but this leads me to wonder, wouldn't that affect the US hackers of this site?

If you want to be anonymous, use some proxy so you can't be caught in the act of downloading something illegal or anything else. And besides this forum is somehow incognito at this point so the US government may not know anything here and they'll be dealing with larger sites first I guess.

That's very true, I was just thinking towards the final release of Koolboymans Prism, that's definitely something no one wants to miss out on

A proxy coiuld only do so much. People reverse engineer those all the time, proxies aren't your golden ticket to paradise. In addition to that, the bill only affects certain ISP's, luckily I'm not one of them.

What I'm curious about is this peer to peer software, or is it everything?

Re: ISP's taking over copyright affect this site?

I'm assuming it mostly involved P2P and Torrent software, since those types of traffic are more easily monitored by your ISP, because they use different connection protocols. Downloading roms and other things through your browser is essentially indistinguishable from downloading a Minecraft map or pictures of My Little Pony in terms of the protocols used (unless they monitor based on the IP you are connected to, and there is no reason to assume that this site in particular would be flagged as a site to monitor). I'm not worried about this site causing me any trouble (even though I haven't checked if my ISP is on the list or not) and I do my torrenting through an open public WiFI connection that belongs to someone else anyway, so I'm not concered at all, really.

Some ISPs already throttle your connection speed if they detect you using torrent software regardless of whether the file you are downloading is legal or illegal though, simply because it eats up bandwidth.

Re: ISP's taking over copyright affect this site?

Makes complete sense, I assumed it only affected Torrent and P2P software, so it's nice to hear I'm not the only one thinking that. I think for the purposes of rom hacking, we're all good. I never liked torrents anyway, they just take to long to download a lot of the time

Torrents are fast depending on how many seeders there are. My torrents roughly go about 1.5 MB's per second if I have enough seeders which makes 1.0 GB or higher downloads download within 30 mins if there is no interuptions.
