Repointing Pokémon names

Alright, so I figured out how to change Pokémon names via hex editing, but how do I repoint if I want to give a Pokémon a longer name than is allowed? Also, does filling in empty name space with byte 50 hazardous? So far it has not given me any problems, though I think it is not the ideal way to do this.

Re: Repointing Pokémon names

Every pokemon has a name length of 10 bytes, those "50's" there are parts of the names of the pokemon of which name "is not 10 bytes long".
Feraligatr for instance has no 50's in it, Caterpie has 2.

So yeah, you have actually been doing it right without knowing.

You can move the list to some other rom area as well if you like though. There is a "3-byte pointer" pointing to it somewhere close to the beginning of the rom image.
