Re: Pokemon Chrome [2013 Demo Release!]

1) I played it in VisualBoy Advance on Windows 7 and had no problems playing it.
2) Everyone having trouble with MeBoy, I seem to remember this problem being somehow related to the tile extension patch. I'm not sure what's wrong with MeBoy that makes it crash, since other emulators run it fine when you use the tile extension, but that seems to be a recurring issue. The only thing I can think of are to see if there is a newer version of meboy or find another way to play it that doesn't involve a mobile phone.

This makes me wonder, does MeBoy work with Pokemon Crystal? Could it be a problem with it being fully gameboy colour instead of just an enhanced gameboy game? My phone doesn't use MeBoy, so I can't test it on mine, but can someone else confirm if it might be related to the gameboy colour features being added?

Re: Pokemon Chrome [2013 Demo Release!]

I also ran into the same bugs as Munchulax and Mateo did. Expect for the map music been weird in several places. Then again, I didn't notice Yew trying to give you another pokemon once one had already been given. Although I didn't try leaving the lab and coming inside again.

About gameplay though, it was pretty fun. Of course I didn't see that much new stuff as I had already played up to Vallecia City (without the "intro sequence") but still, I had fun while it lasted.

Re: Pokemon Chrome [2013 Demo Release!]

Hi.
I've only played this for a very little while but I've found two bugs. Not sure if they're major or not/already reported but here goes anyway.

1. If at the very start you re-enter your house you have two mums.
2. At the bottom of the ladders when you first enter Mt. Lagna, if you look and click 'a' at the top left corner on the bottom floor, it opens a dialogue box and crashes.
3. The sign outside Ceples forest gatehouse and Route 201 crashes my game.
4. The grass near the above gatehouse does not have any pokemon for me

Re: Pokemon Chrome [2013 Demo Release!]

Crystal works fine...
What I have understood this game doesn't work on the mobile phones but does work on the pc emulators.
I have downloaded the fixed one that jwigabi has put and I don't get an error now it's just freezes...

Anyways how is it fixable?

Re: Pokemon Chrome [2013 Demo Release!]

I re-downloaded it on my virtual XP and it worked fine. Which is what 'cause normally GB/GBC hacks usually work on my regular Windows 7. But, from what I've played, definitely fun. I like the slightly modified battle HUD and the mix of custom and devamped Ruby/Sapphire tiles. I'm at the point where the girl is complaining about losing her earrings and the officer is blocking the entrace back into the cave for Mt. Lagna. I also liked having the Running Shoes.

Re: Pokemon Chrome [2013 Demo Release!]

I will point this out to you guys. There will probably never me much more then chrome, let alone Acient Emerald. He does not have the time. He has better things to do. Rom hacking is fun, but it can really be boreing. He only finished this because I pushed him. I kept reminding him. I kept bugging him. I did this until you got this small first amount of the hack. There was going to be a lot more for the first demo, but this is all u got. Take it and enjoy it. There won't be much more. Ever.

How did you get it to work? I've tried BGB in all modes and VBA. Game crashes after you enter your name...

Re: Pokemon Chrome [2013 Demo Release!]

Well, if your emulator is set to GB or SGB/SGB2 the game will crash and reset after you enter/select your name because the game uses a tileset extension patch and uses the VRAM1 bank, so the game will crash when it tries to load VRAM1 tiles because the original GameBoy and Super Game Boy 1/2 don't have a VRAM1 bank.  So Pokemon Chrome will crash on emulators that don't support GBC and therefore don't have a VRAM1 bank.

Thanks! It works with BGB set to GBC mode, but sadly not on a real Gameboy.

It's not that it doesn't support the phone - MeBoy can play GBC games fine, it just has some problems with Tauwasser's Tileset Extension.  It's the same for all games that use Tauwasser's Tileset Extension patch.  In order for it to work on a GB/SGB/Phone, you would have to remove the parts of the tileset extension hack that deal with additional tiles in VRAM1, just like Mateo did for his Christmas Hack.

So that's exactly what I did.  So far the game plays in both GB and SGB perfectly (besides for the in-game oversights/glitches)
So without further ado, here are the download links (All links have had their checksum fixed):

MeBoy 1.6 Download
MeBoy 2.2 Download

and as a bonus:
Standard ROM - Compatible with your GB/SGB for anyone who may actually want to play it on their GameBoy or Super GameBoy.

All downloads hosted by MediaFire.  Happy Gaming!
If you find any problems/glitches relating to playing on your phone, bug me, not Melash.
