This looks great, I'll definitely be downloading this when it's released.

Kinda off-topic, but I think it fits the theme somehow

Hey Akwa, can I see a pokemon with one of the prefixes I suggested?
Preferably one of the funnier ones, like barf or rude?

Please?

I'm still having doubts about this. If I release a beta, some people might get 'satisfied' with it and not find final release any better. I want to make everything as good and perfect as possible before releasing. So you people should not be surprised if I keep delaying the release date ;p

could you also add some profanity when naming new pokemon? As a toggle-able option, of course.

My imagination might be poor, but I can't imagine any of such names. Is Fu****karp something you meant? This isn't goal of my project and I don't think I will implement it.

Hey, some prefixes suggested by you have been added into the list and enriched the diversity of names. I'm sure I've added 'rude' prefix to dark types, but not barf. I don't see some names like 'nude', 'naked' etc. fitting into theme of pokemon (fakemon) and those won't be added.

There was a hack of Silver, called Dopeymon, where all pokemon had fucked-up names...for example, Tyranitar became Moronitard, Umbreon was Dumbreon, Heracross was Heracock...and so on.

I believe this is what you are referring to:

Sounds about right.

I MIGHT have had something to do with that very hack. :P

Lets just say that it was a VERY boring Summer.

Also, in that hack, the typing and learnsets are changed, so yeah, that was "fun" to learn.

Even so, I'm not going to suggest "poopy" as a type prefix, because that would be immature.

And that ain't how I roll :D

Thankfully, someone on BHDN uploaded it after my site went down.

But Psychic-types becoming Stoopid-types... that was fun, if not mature. Though I am nearly a doctor, I still enjoy immature fun.

I think all pokemon will get randomized stats. After all, that's what a randomizer is supposed to do. So, you can even get a sucky Mewtwo.

Re: Gen 2: Fake 'em all! # Alpha version released #

Some people might not like this, but legendary pokemon will stay legendary. I can't imagine encountering 20 Mewtwos on one route. So this means no non-legendary pokemon can be legendary aswell (this is my current plan). I could just shuffle legendaries so one game Articuno dwells in Whirl Island etc...

Legendary Pokemon will, of course, have better stats compared to normal Pokemon. During moveset generation, their levels are increased by 20 (meaning on lvl 10 it can learn moves learnable at lvl 30) and some moves are given extra chance to get randomed (eg. Ancientpower).

Here's few screenshots for you; yeah I know you wanted a Mewtwo.

I can add an option to leave legendaries untouched by randomization. It can have some consequences though.

I think I heard somewhere that Legendary Birds can escape from battle in gen II. Are you going to disable this?

Well, that's a nice although very cosmetic change. When I'm done doing most important parts I'll play around with cry editors and see if there's a point to do that. I also can't really imagine how rock Cyndaquil or fire Starmie sounds should sound like.

mallo wrote:

I'm really not into legendaries yet, but if it's true then it will be disabled. I remember someone figured out what part of data determines which pokemon run away. Consequently, the 3 randomed legendary beasts should try to flee battles (and maybe even have Roar to piss off even more).

Well, cry mechanics work in a bit different way. You have 68 cry templates, of which the cries are made from. Steelix and Lugia or Aipom and Ho-oh share the same template (but have different pitches). You can't 'mix' them.

roshu wrote:

If I devoted few hours daily from now on, I could finish in this week. I need to rewrite and optimize most of the code. Some parts need to be 'rebalanced' and given more diversity.

I could release a 'beta' even before next weekend though. I'm not promising anything, though.

Re: Gen 2: Fake 'em all! # Alpha version released #

Time for some awesome update!

I have finished stat randomization and overall power randomization. What does it mean?

Pokemon have now their base stats randomed (precisely, stats are chosen from certain gaussian distribution with fixed mean and standard deviation), and their evolution levels are pretty much random too. Final stages with weaker stats have lower level requirements, of course. All trade-evolutions and happinness evolutions are going to be removed (I'm thinking about leaving happinness).

Also, I implemented an interesting feature:
Every game, two random three-stage families (eg. Pidgey family) will become pseudo-legendary families, like Dratini or Larvitar family! Main characteristics of them are high evolution levels (30 and 55), Slow experience group, noticeably higher power (base stats of ~600 at final stage) and better randomed moves.

Except for that, I have also added possibility of randoming 1-2 "weak bug group" three-stage families, like Caterpie and Weedle families. Pokemon from this group always have Bug type as primary type, low levels for evolution but low stats.

I will also add a possibility of randoming Gyarados-like family, where first stage is utterly useless.

Which Pokemon belong to these families, shall be a riddle for you.

I also started working on trainer data randomization. Right now, I finished it for '01' type trainers (excluding special trainers like our rival, Silver during 1st battle). I will also implement randomization of amount of pokemon a trainer has and slight variances of levels.

Some screenshots, presenting battle with Wade on Route 31 (next to the guy who gives us Nightmare TM):
58885667.png

96099135.png  60037943.png

92582557.png  79421422.png

Yeah, I need to reduce diversity of trainers' pokemon, because having almost 40 'Seen' in Pokedex before battle with Falkner is a too big dose of novelty at once. Also, funny thing is the randomed palettes of all pokemon but Gastly look almost like original ones. Seel 'borrowed' its colors from Butterfree, lol.

Starting to look really interesting, I like all of the things you've been planning for it too.
What about stone evolutions? Have you edited them as well because they totally would make sense being changed to level evolutions.
