That gen 3 screenshot Solar posted looks good, will that be a possibility for a gbc graphic change?

Um, no. Those kind of graphics are not possible. I'm not even sure why Solar posted that.

I think Solar posted it to show that those little dark circles in I/II gen were meant to be trees.

I was assuming it was to show further evidence that they were meant to be trees, by showing how Gamefreak updated them for the remakes.

Also, going back to the Gen III shot, it would be possible to get a little more "advanced" with how the graphics look, although you do still have the 4 colour limit.

Well, it would be cool if it can look more advanced, especially for those who can only play gen 2 games.

Game freak didn't do much with gbc. A lot of gbc games actually look like gba games.

Except for the fact that this isn't a CGB game. It really was incapable of coming close to GBA quality, unlike GSC.

It's the same place in FireRed, Route 1.

The full pallettes are used by the Supergameboy or Emulators featuring a SGB mode only, correct. On a GB/GBC/GBA you still only only have the 4 shades.

Re: Pokémon Red - Gen. II Graphics And Music Patch V2.0

I was watching someone play a livestream of Yellow and they also called the trees boulders.
Even after they had just been playing Gold and went to Kanto.

How do you make this mistake?

They don't look much like trees at all. The trunk is almost impossible to notice, and depending on what city you're in, they can have really crazy colors, so they're never obviously a tree.
But they're always dark like a rock.

Re: Pokémon Red - Gen. II Graphics And Music Patch V2.0

I think a region entirely populated by rocks and absolutely no trees is absurd.
How does the environment thrive?

Conclusion: There is no feasible reason for them to ever be considered rocks other than those people being very, very silly.

I like this discussion about trees. Anyway, the game looks great! Are you still thinking about including pokemon G/S/C's tileset? That would just complete it, in my opinion.

Freako, I was like 5 when I first started playing this on my first GameBoy Color. The moment I saw them and thought they looked like rocks, that's what I believed. I wasn't considering the environment. There are more reasons than just being very, very silly. :P
