Pokémon GSC (JP): Unused house in Olivine City

Are there any cheat codes to access the unused warp in Olivine City, located at 0,0 in the map, on the Japanese versions of Gold/Silver (V1.0 & V1.1) and Crystal? I tried the "Walk Through Walls" cheat code in Japanese Crystal but the warp is not enabled so it must require another method of accessing it. The GameShark cheat codes provided at TCRF don't seem to work here.

I've tried this with a legit and untouched Japanese Crystal ROM on BGB v1.4.1.

The "Walk Through Walls" cheat code for Japanese Crystal is:

01183ED1
01183FD1
011840D1
011841D1

Also a screenshot of my failed attempt:

Re: Pokémon GSC (JP): Unused house in Olivine City

In order to access and use that warp, the tile it is on would need to be set to the collision value for doors, which is 71 IIRC, but a tree is set to use the wall collision value (07).  So you would need to either move the warp or put a tile there with a collision value of 71, like in the following video I just threw together (in which I did both).  You could also just point to that map by modifying another warp on the Olivine City map.

Sorry about the quality, I just threw it together real quick.

If you want to apply this a Crystal (J) ROM, you can download this IPS file I quickly made:

Re: Pokémon GSC (JP): Unused house in Olivine City

Thanks for the help, Munchulax. I was trying to change another warp in Olivine City's map to point there using G2Map but the change was pointing to the unused warp all the same instead of the map itself.

G2Map is a recent and in-development program for editing maps of Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, which goal seems to support ALL the ROMs available. It is the first I've seen that supports Gold/Silver and Crystal in the same program and that supports the Japanese ROMs (it supports Gold/Silver JP V1.0 & V1.1, Gold/Silver US/DE/FR, Crystal JP, Crystal US V1.0 & V1.1; it'll also support Gold/Silver IT and likely ES as well as Crystal DE/FR/IT/ES in the future).

With that said, it's just version 0.1 of the program so bugs are bound to happen. It's also pretty featureless, at least for now. I saw it mentioned here in another thread (/topic/2812/) and that's how I got it.

I also thought on checking the movement and/or collision values but G2Map doesn't allow that yet. I suppose I could do it via hex editing but I'm not a ROM modder (at least, yet). Speaking of it, I suppose the documentation forums have all I need to start, right? What should I know in advance BEFORE even start reading them?

I apologize for the slight off-topic. Thanks for the video, it showed me what I wanted to check in that unused map: the dialogues of the girl and the Rhydon.

Yeah, I already knew about G2Map.  It's what I used to make that video.

I think kkj1116's Global FAQ thread should be your first stop before anything else.  It also links to tons of other info spread across the forums, so you should go there first.

The unused house is also present in the international versions of GSC.

I'm sure he/she knows that, he/she just wanted to check the dialogue present in the Japanese version.

Re: Pokémon GSC (JP): Unused house in Olivine City

I don't know about the Japanese version of Crystal, but in the English translation there's a code to make all warps function as if falling down a hole.
Even warps that don't have any door on them. It's actually quite useful when combined with walk through walls.

0160E4D4 this is the code, simply walk onto something like a door or other warp area and you will fall into the room it's linked to.

and this is the walk through walls for the English release.

0100FAC2
0100FBC2
0100FCC2
0100FDC2

I'm pretty sure if the house is in the English release, it's definitely in the Japanese.
I'll keep searching for Japanese versions of the code for using warps.

You know the glitches that exist in the Pokémon games?
Only the ones named "MISSINGNO." are Missingno.
The others are not. They are their own glitches with their own names.
Sorry, it's a... thing that bugs me a little.

You will find that the same codes are used to make the warp code. What this code does is simply to overwrite the collision of the four blocks around hero. So just walk to a block next to where the warp is, use 0x71 instead of 0x00 in the above and you should warp. You can find the offsets very easily for the Japanese version while playing with a cheat finder. Move next to a wall and search for 0x07 in the C000 - DFFF area. Next, move away from the wall and look at changes to 0x00. Don't be in high grass or it won't work. Rinse and repeat until you found the offset. Shouldn't take more than 5 consecutive tries.

@TheYena @Tauwasser, thanks for sharing that info. I'll have another thing to play around with on the ROM!
