I think i only need the walking sprites, right?

Btw, glad that i could help you :)

I actually only need: face (down), face (left/right) sprites for now.
I think I'll make that person #1 gym leader in the hack which looks down when the room is entered and can only be talked from right/bottom/left (he doesn't have to have new moving sprites either).

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

First beta of Dark Future is now downloadable !!!
Sorry for not waiting for the sprites to get in the game but when grammar errors are fixed, I'll put up a new version (won't be showing more though).
I could also input new sprites at the same time.

Anyways, you could say the beta is still kinda short in case you were planning on playing far in the game.
However, it's the quality that matters, not quantity ;)

Get beta version 1.0 here: http://www.mediafire.com/?33pi0hppkxf770x

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

Haa... Imageshack always turn BMP to PNG files. So, i need another file hosting to host it. It is here by the way.
http://www.2shared.com/photo/UH4Uqm4d/Image6.html
Also, you could change the trainer sprite palette to fit the type of the gym (Blue falkner, green bugsy, etc). Sorry for the delay :(

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

I started inserting the sprites in the game and got them working perfectly :)
All of those three battle sprites look very nice so thank you, to both of you.

Cloud btw, don't want to sound offending but I think that overworld sprite looks just like one of the girl sprites in the game, expect that she has now a bandana on her head :\

P.S
It's a lot easier to insert an overworld sprite into the game if you for example edit any already existing sprite in the game and after doing so, make a patch file that's only purpose is to change the sprite you edited into the sprite you made.
I could then for example patch it to an un-modified gold/silver rom and that way, "copy" it to dark future.

Cheestendo, would it be possible for you to make a back-sprite (and ow) for this guy ?

cactusg.png

One more thing though, which one of you downloaded the beta ?
It would be nice to hear some feedback about it :)

Hahaha... Sure i can't make a better one my friends. It's my first time making a trainer and overworld, so i just use the existing sprite as reference. It's fine if you don't use mine anyway. It's all alright. So sory :D

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

Well the main town , the capital? i think , it was so confusing i searched for the university for a long time  :D ,
You need to make the maps more detailed , they look too simple.Oh and btw delete the ''Getting the Squirtle'',cause you already have an eevee <-a good pokemon , and then a Bulbasaur <-a very good pokemon
So you don't need such a good team, if you have that kind of good poke-team, then it becomes unplayed too easy.understand?
and for the backsprite im working on it , i will probably edit this post and post it here.

Maybe you're right...
I was planning it to be like "yellow" in which you get all bulbasaur, charmander and squirtle.
Charmander would have probably been received after north star.

Not only that but you would also get johto starters, much later though.

I know that The Capital is a little bit confusing but it's still the biggest city in the whole game - that's the reason for it.
Other cities won't be as confusing.

About not being able to beat Ritch, you won't even have to do it.
You can return there whenever you like to challenge him.

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

oh and the gym leader ir too weak. :(..and why did you close the second one?
Give your pokemon a minute of training and you already beat him, easy as it gets , i finished the game with 19 lvl eevee , 15 lvl bulba and level 8 squirtle ..
And for no motherf***ing i bought the map :))).
here it is , only the face isn't made from scratch.

i really like the hair , it's amazing.

Didn't you enter the second gym ?
It's actually a must to be done to be able to move on in the further releases.
If you spend a little while exploring (and talking to people) in Little Stone, you'll find out how to get to the gym.

Btw, did you use turbo mode (or really used time training eevee) ?
I found the difficulty level convenient by testing the hack at 100% myself.

100% is too slow , i play it 200% only a half more :) but still i think it is too easy.. :o
how far is the release?

No problem man! if you need anything else just say!

edit:
and yet again the 2nd gym leader was a bit strong , lol
the sunflora killed my 21 lvl eevee my 18 lvl bulbasaur ,
but it didn't kill my 14 lvl squirtle :D :D ./
and that is the finish right? you can't get anywhere the first-aid kit?
It's a great hack , but you still need a lot of sprites and a lot of new graphics.

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

You don't NEED new sprites and graphics, maybe just the hero's OW. Looks great so far!

I don't calculate stat values, I don't breed my way to perfection, and I don't care about natures. I catch my Pokemon the way they are, and treat them like individuals instead of brainless drones.

@dooshboi - No i think it needs Brand New Graphics, What's a hack without new graphics? :(
every decent hack has better graphics than the original.

Both work just fine - I don't check my e-mail often though (don't remember to do so) so it would be better if you post them here :)

I guess I also have to be on dooshboi's side with this one.
A hack doesn't necessarily need new graphics but they're of course a nice add-on to it.

However, it's not like I wouldn't appriciate your work, not at all.
Having new graphics for main characters is important (to make the hack more unique) but I don't think side-characters (like random people) really matter.

Some people think otherwise though, I've seen a lot of people in PC think that the best hacks always have the best "tiles".

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

Okay then. I'm not too far yet, but here's what I've got so far.

First: Your dad says "style to dress". This should be "style of dress"

Second: In the Capitol, there is a house with two parents who you show their child back to them. They both say the same thing at first if you visit them before returning their child.

Third: Oak says the elemental orbs are "Called as Elemental Orbs" This should be "called Elemental Orbs".

Fourth: The guy in the house close to yours says "shouldn't you be at school in a time like this" which should be "at a time like this".

Fifth: Second town has a guy on the right that says the town is "Booring". Should only be one "o" unless you wanted to emphasize the "o" sound, in which case I'd suggest three "o"s.

Sixth: The girl near the previous boy says "continueing" which should be "continuing".

That's all I've found so far. hope this helps.

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

There seriously weren't other grammar errors than those ? :D
Wow, I'm impressed how well I can write in english these days although I haven't studied it since spring 2010.
Thanks for the grammar fixes by the way :)

The second bug you reported should work that way - I made them both "point" to the same text data to save space and that way, I also didn't have to think about something else for the other one to be said.
Besides, have you talked to each trainer after beating them (a couple of them also point to the same text data after battle and after talked to again) ?

Edit:
After ten minutes of hard work, those grammar errors have been fixed :D

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

I've got the old menu sprite replaced with the new one.

cactusmenu.png

However, it doesn't fit in.
While re-writing the menu sprite, I noticed that the game loads only 40x56 pixels instead of 56x56.
Cheestendo, would it be possible to edit that sprite so that the right hand would also fit in ?
It could for instance "rest" on his femur, or wherever you like putting it :)

Besides, just saying that if the sprite is bigger than 40x56, a minor bug will also happen in the naming screen when the game is told to move the sprite right and back to the center of the image again. That could be fixed by a little assembly though.

0x6180 - Hiro's position when starting to move right
0x6188 - Hiro's position when starting to move left
0x61ED - Where to put Hiro-sprite

Shenaldrac wrote:

Well, some of them also say the same thing twice - just after beating them and when talked to them again (but that's no bug though, just saving me from writing more text data for them).

The same sprite will also be shown in the beginning of the game when you're supposed to give the player a name.
