Re: Introduction Thread - AKA "What kind of person are you ?"

Well, i'm coming up on a year of membership on this site in a couple months, and I plan to stick around a while, so I might as well properly introduce myself.

My (screen)name is Vitharix, I'm an 18 year-old male from the United States, the Pacific Northwest to be more specific. In general I enjoy a big variety of things, including playing and watching sports (football (American and normal), baseball, basketball, and tennis), music (I play several instruments including drums, bass, guitar, piano, tuba, trombone, baritone, and others), computers, (I attended a school for IT training, if only for a semester :p), science (I love anthropology, paleontology, geology, biology, and I love thinking about the origins of the human condition), and last but not least Pokemon. Now, I'm not a huge fan anymore, like I was 10 or more years ago, so i stopped playing the games and watching the shows after Gen 2, but the combination of interests and nostalgia and an overall drive to create an original game is what brought me here, to learn how to do this.

As a lad I was diagnosed with ADD and ADHD, and I forgot where this sentence was going to go. But really, the good thing about it is that I never get bored. And also when I find something I enjoy doing, I do it with unflinching concentration, for hours and hours on end, without stopping to eat/drink/sleep. It was that way with playing Pokemon when I was younger. I call this "hyper concentration".

Anyway, as you might be able to tell from my signature, I'm traveling in Europe right now, fulfilling a lifelong dream. When I was young I would read through atlas' and memorise the capitals of all the countries in the world... Finland is Helsinki, Latvia is Riga, Czech Republic is Prague (I was just there) etc. Of course, I could've just googled those but I would've known them and most others 10 years ago. Anyway I feel as if I'm just talking about the things I've done, so I'll talk about my person a bit.

I'm mostly quiet, but outgoing. I have friends ranging from football team captains/quarterbacks to death metal guitarists to IT certified's and programmers to Chemistry majors and everything in between. I'm an agnostic, but I don't have a problem with religion as long as it is used as a foundation with which to better yourself and more importantly others, not to shove bibles down throats or discriminate against others or generally be jerks (Westboro baptist church, I'm looking at you, as Mateo said, those are the type that give others bad names). I enjoy life for what I can best deduce it to be, and I'm thankful that for all of the billions of combinations of genes that could have been born in my place, I was born. That mathematical near-impossibility is what makes me thankful to be alive for this infinitesimally short journey, whatever it is.

Anyway I'd like to close by saying that this forum has helped me from getting too lonely on this expedition, i had no idea that being by yourself for 2 months would make me miss conversation! So thanks everyone!

You know what? If you're coming to Helsinki during your traveling session, we absolutely have to meet there!
E-mail me through this site if that's the case or just reply back if not but it would be cool to actually get to see people around here in real life. And I know you're a cool guy according to what you've told and all that so we'd be getting along pretty well I believe :)

I've sent an email. But basically, the last 2 weeks of my trip has no plan and I wanted to go to Scandinavia anyway. And I agree, it would be great.

Re: Introduction Thread - AKA "What kind of person are you ?"

So, realise i haven't introduced myself, so here goes... I'm Gage, go by the name Zapdos. I'm 17, I'm a New Zealand Maori, and am a really nice guy, but piss me off, then you'll never hear the end of it. I want to get into hacking, but i lack incentive (and a computer) so yeah... I'm studying atm though, nothing big, just some business and administration stuff, and have just graduated from my travel and tourism course :D, i enjoy all of these hacks, and i convert a vast majority of the hacks into jar format... i'm a big supporter of Dark Energy, The Halloween Hack, The Golden Hack, and that one which name i forgot, and can't be bothered to find :P... if i can get hold of a laptop (probably gonna get one with my course related costs), i'll start on my very own hack, if i can learn all the basics, and i wish to learn ASM too, but that's a bit complicated :)... My hobbies include playing video games, socialising with my mates, cooking, looking for a job, and reading. I used to play rugby too, which is like the harsher version of American Football... so, yeah, that's my life, hope to become good friends with everyone here :D

I'm Sou1forged, 24 years old and studying to be a translator. I've been hacking Pokemon games (on and off) since grade school, though I often run out of inspiration for my projects after a while, and nothing has come of it.
My strength is scripting, something I learned by reverse engineering a (rather mediocre) hack by AV hacks, and later came to understand what exactly I was doing thanks to Tauwasser's scripting document. I am also a decent mapper, though I have no idea how to edit map connections. Spriting, on the other hand, is something I'm really bad at; I couldn't draw a sprite if my life depended on it.
Oh, and I detest fakemon and most Gen3+ pokemon.

I'm SRL8, and I am researching GSC Hacking as an application of my programming skills. I've been programming for two years now, so I grasped event scripting and Z80 Assembly Language fairly quickly when I encountered them. I am not a very good mapper or spriter, as I lack design and artistic skill. As you can tell by my avatar, I am a fan of the guitarist Brian Patrick "Buckethead" Carroll.

Re: Introduction Thread - AKA "What kind of person are you ?"

Hi everyone, I'm a 22 years old young man from Portugal. I've graduated in Geography and I'm currently unemployed. I have plans to continue my studies abroad, preferably Sweden, I hope I can accomplish that.

I love music.
I play the piano as my base instrument, although I play (badly) some other instruments like guitar, flutes and percussive instruments. I also have a few electronic keyboards which I experiment with and play them in my band.
I listen mostly to metal music of all kinds, although I listen ocasionally to other styles as well, such as blues, folk, new age, soundtrack-type music and barroque.

I also like the fantasy genre. Movies, books and games that deal with that genre are my favorites. I have plans to write a story, but as of now, inspiration is a bit dry.

I've been following the community for quite a while (since 2009, I think) because I like Generations I and II of Pokémon, specially Gen. II, and I found great hacks in this community to keep me entertained. Since last summer I've been thinking of starting myself a hack and this year I finally started making one.

That's the basics.

It's more like tul-ka-ke-lu-me, the me being like the one in medicine.

As for your second question, I may have not explained the right way, I love geography as a subject I see working on my life, having a job that I like, going to the field to study the phenomena, admiring the landscapes... what a pleasure! And music is more of a hobby, something I can enjoy and relief stress with. I don't see myself being a professional musician, because I don't enjoy the boring part of being one (contracts, schedules, demands, etc.), I like to have free control over what and when I play. I doubt I'd earn some money with playing, but I don't really care, since I don't see music that way.

ah i see, now i'm more aware of those things now. on the other side, i envy you a little coz you've dealt with geography already. that's a great accomplisment and will be a great job too! others can call it lame but for me, going to somewhere here on earth and study what can be found there is plain awesome! especially on caves i might say. and music is cool but what's cooler is that you can play some instruments, it's really envying. haha! welcome to this forum:)

Re: Introduction Thread - AKA "What kind of person are you ?"

I've been using this site off and on for the past year now as a guest, so I figured I might as well register as an actual user for the inevitable questions I will have since I am getting serious with a game hack now. (Though I hope to be able to figure out most things on my own, I've always been too stubborn to ask for help).

My real name is Kate. Truut comes from the nickname I gave to my car. I am 23 years old and live just outside of Charlotte in good ol' North Carolina. It is a pretty rural setting out here. I am within walking distance of cow pastures and cycling distance to some pretty good fishing spots.

I agree with Mateo when he said he was a contradiction. I too have been called that by a few friends. How so?

I like to do girly things like wear makeup on occasion, getting a new dress for a night out and painting my toes. I am equally as happy working on cars, lifting weights at the gym, or using old soda cans as target practice in the backyard.

I love a nice glass of wine equally as much as a pilsner of beer. Liquor. . .not so much. Gin and tonic is really the only drink of that category I like.

I don't mind little fuzzy spiders or snakes yet I will scream like a little girl at the sight of a beetle.

As far as education goes, I was in the BMW program at my local community college. I left the program after working in an auto shop as a mechanic for a couple of years. I did not like the unreliability of paychecks since one week I would make alot but the next not so much. Hard to budget well. I am back in school hoping to transfer to UNC Charlotte for computer engineering and more reliable paychecks.

I love to travel. I am saving up money to visit my uncle in Toronto for the first time in almost ten years. Maybe one day I can make it over the "pond" and visit the places in Europe my dad is always talking about.

I am known as a "walking encyclopedia" by my friends. I love to figure out how everything works. Really, everything. Cars, physics, cooking, woodworking, painting, coding (of all sorts), biology, gardening, even exercise and nutrition. They all deal with understanding the hows and whys of each category. If money did not matter, I would happily spend most of my life in college learning all that I could.

Now I know everyone has a few goals in life that are pretty out there. Mine would be to own a successful vineyard/organic farm and to be able to compete in the olympics as a triathlete before my 35th birthday.

Anyone else brave enough to share their ultimate life goals?

Interesting backstory, really!

I wish I still had that urge to learn all I could, been losing it over the years myself (especially in a time I had to go to military for one whole year and didn't study during the entire time at all).

In any case, good luck to the triathlon competitions by the way!

Thank you Misky! I'm hoping to start running again tomorrow. Haven't lately because I keep getting sick.

Was the year in military optional or something like in greece where its mandatory?

It is kinda sad how quickly your mind will forget things if you don't keep going back over them. :[

Totally mandatory stuff it was...

I might have gotten out only with a half year service but since I had to start, I felt like "yeah, let's just do the "leader training" while at it".
Well, after I had finished it, I had a little bit of trouble at first catching up with others, but it wasn't so bad.

I would love to be called a scientist someday specialized for astronomy and physics, that's what can I call an ultimate goal if money doesn't really matter and there are many schools here in the R.P. that can offer the degree. And one more thing, are you really a gal? You sound really tough!
