Haha, what do you do in that game?

You start your "ordinary" pokemon journey to collect 8 badges and become pokemon master.
However, things might not go the way you'd expect them to.
Besides, it's going to be a 10-minute struggle to beat but you might fail quite a lot so it will take more than that to finish.

Download it here and see for yourself! (Should be a totally virus-free site.)

And what comes to changing the songs, I think all of them are good to begin with so just go for changing the ones you feel like should change (I'd personally also put town, route and battle music in this category).

Re: Red hack: Pokémon Prototype

Hey guys! I updated the title screen again and now it randomly cycles through all 151 Pokémon! Instead of choosing between only 16 like it normally does.
I think this has certainly become the most complex and creative gen I title screen hack!
What do you guys think??

Right! I had a hard time deciding which 16 Pokemon were the 'right' ones. And I was never happy with which Pokemon I picked. I'm glad this takes out the decision factor on my part. :p

The music is very cool and also peaceful in the first Town.

Who makes it?

I wanted ask this because I need somehow with msuic hacking skills that is actually able to fully implement a music converted from another game or sampling other music (or MIDIs or such).

That's really awesome, unlike that GXSCC crap. I also commented as YORAMRW on your YouTube video, and I think this will be one of the best Gen I hacks with Pokémon Brown and Pokémon Grape.

Well if you're asking about actually getting the music into the game, that was just me. The composer for the music did just that. My younger brother composed the music but I hacked it into the game. I also have a lot of experience in writing arrangements so I may be able to help you with that also.

Unfotunately, no. It's just too hard to tell.

I don't see a post saying "this game is ready for first bata", so I'm going to assume this game is not "ready for first bata".

You can try to hide yourself in this world of pretend; when the paper's crumpled up, it can't be perfect again.

LMAO. Sorry... I couldn't resist. XD

Anyway, Pokemon Master, the proper thing to do would be to SEARCH the thread to see if your question is already answered, or if there is a hint to the answer. It seems 'lazy' when you don't. I would suggest that you please ask questions like that if you clearly see no hint of an answer.

I'm trying to assist you. BTW, I believe the word that you are looking for here is "beta" (which usually comes after an alpha build).

Re: Red hack: Pokémon Prototype

Danny-E 33, I watched the preview on YouTube, and I really like the new music.  I've done a good amount of music hacking in Maize, and I'm just curious how our processes differ.  What's your general strategy for inserting new music?

Mine is as follows:
I wrote a program that converts simple MIDI files into the proper hex format for pokemon.  Then, I arrange a MIDI file or devamp another MIDI so that it's simple enough for my program.  After I feed the MIDI file into my program, I make a lot of manual edits for things such as vibrato and loops. Then, I insert the channels into the ROM and manual correct pointers for loops and such.

I bolded the word "simple" because music channels in Pokemon are quite limited compared to a MIDI channel.  A pokemon channel can only play one note at a given time, while a MIDI channel can play multiple notes at the same time.  Also, a pokemon channel can only play notes that are quantized to sixteenth notes, while MIDI can play notes of arbitrary duration.

You already know the stuff in that last paragraph... but I'm curious about how you go about inserting new music.

Re: Red hack: Pokémon Prototype

My younger brother, Michael (Mickey-A 42 on this forum), writes the music in Finale 2011. He sends me the file when he finishes a song and then I write it in Famitracker only to hear it and add appropriate effects like vibrato, dynamics and such. Then I write the notes is a text file that gets compiled just like the rest of the music in the pokered disassembly.
