Thanks for all of the feedback. Yes, I came up with the arrow idea when I messing with the font. I'm not sure if any of the newer generation games use it, as I've never played them.

Your ideas seem to be really compatible with your hack. I know I haven't given much real feedback besides the old "Your hack is amazing!" so here:
- I think you should scrap the blue of the PokeCenter 1.5th floor.
- Waterfall starts abruptly (in comparison with the rock) in the 3rd-to-last screenshot.
- Create color differentiation between the tree and the grass?
- Input a different tree? New trees are great but that one seems to flimsy to be against such a strong green. Perhaps its just the color.
- Home seems a little bit boring.

These are all personal and subjective statements. But again, your hack does look amazing (and I mean amazing).
It's a shame that a lot, if not most Gen I and II hacks never get finished. I'm hoping yours won't be one of em.

Thanks for the criticism. Actually, I really appreciate this type of criticism, it really helps. My replies to your's.

-I personally really like the blue floor myself, I think it looks too bland with all yellow.
-The waterfall is actually quite high, I'll show another screenshot so you can see more of it.
-What do you mean by color differentiation?
-The tree was actually ported over from Emerald. It's actually just a placeholder until I design a new one.
-What do you not like about it?

I actually like how simple it is.  I like the white wall, the wood paneling from Pokemon Gold is becoming outdated.

Re: Pokemon Chrome

The screenshot with the blocked cave, you have a ledge right next to the water. You should add a rock there or something instead as it looks kinda weird.

Re: Pokemon Chrome

@~Red: In the normal Gold and Silver, it does things like that. That's how you Surf.
@Kkj1116: I know that Melash already responded, but here's my opinion anyway. Hopefully this will also help Melash.
- I think the blue looks good.
- It's on top of the rock, so naturally the rock shouldn't stop in front of it.
- I agree.
- I agree, but the creator of the thread said that it's a placeholder in between your post and mine.
- I like it the way it is.

I haven't been on this site for a very long time. Sorry about that! >.<
I am probably not going to get very far in the ROM projects that I've started, at least until I get more experience hacking, so I apologize.

You misunderstand me. I meant this:

r75gsg.jpg

There is a ledge right next to the water's edge. This doesn't make sense since the ledges are there not only to provide shortcuts but geographically they mean it steps up a hill, yet the water's edge is consistent.

Why it's a problem? Look at this 3D mockup I made:

Re: Pokemon Chrome

Funny thing is that I pointed the same thing out in Pokecommunity thread:
"Makes me also wanna put arrows in my own hack...

Anyway, I think you should something with the mapping in the police-screenshot.
Now if you used surfed past that ledge instead of walking the stairs, the "height difference" wouldn't match. Besides, (not sure if it's only me) it seems a little odd that the ledge ends at the water border (maybe relating to the same thing actually ?).

Other screenshots look good though."

And after that Melash replied with an image that fixes that thing

Nice 3D mockup you made there.

Yes, as Miksy91 pointed out I already changed the map, I didn't even notice my mistake when I made it originally.

I don't think you needed to change it that much, couldn't you place a rock in the water? Like this:

Indeed. Red's edit was simple, and it keeps a lot of the original feel of the map. But hey, its up to you mate!

Re: Pokemon Chrome

I'd have to agree with Mateo, Red's edit is simple. With your solution you'd need to edit the entire mountain to accommodate the new rock ledge since you'd have to add a corner piece and connect the right side to the main mountain.

Re: Pokemon Chrome

Slight update.

Since it's been Spring Break I've been on a 9 day vacation across the country. Had a blast, but haven't had any time whatsoever for hacking. I think I'll get started again on it today and see what I can get done. Just wanted to let you all know what's going on.

Another actual update coming soon!

Small update!

I've been doing quite a bit of work and have about half of the first major city complete. It's a very large city, so it's going to take some time. Here are three teaser screenshots.

Perhaps the first Gym?

Interesting...I wonder what's in here.

One of the many substation of a massive Subway System that spans more than just one region. It's a new feature I'm currently adding that will be quite unique to any of the official games.

Looking pretty nice!

I just got an idea; how about making fly unobtainable so that you really had to use those subs ?
If there are going to be a lot of stations, it shouldn't be a problem traveling on foot & subs only.

Re: Pokemon Chrome

I really haven't considered taking the HM Fly out, but I might do it, as having the ability to fly anywhere would render the Subway system useless. Or possibly have altered Fly data. Not sure yet.

As for the ticket idea, I've already got the system planned out, and it is indeed very similar to what you suggested.

Thanks for all of the feedback.

The problem with this is that, although releasing a rom patch is dubious when it comes to legality, releasing a .gbc file with copyrighted information is downright piracy. This is illegal and hence you'll have to find other means of getting the original base ROM.

(Edited for typos)

This might be hard to implement, but I got a wild idea.
Subs give you menus that allow you to travel to towns you've been to.
You could stop players from going to towns they haven't been to by assigning a ticket items, and giving those ticket items when you enter a town's train station for the first time.
Fly data could be manipulated so that you can fly to a rest house of wild locations (rest house before Mountains, Sea, etc.).

Just a thought.

This is actually "pretty easy" if you know what you're doing exactly.
Anyway, I also like kkj's suggestion on making it only possible to fly to other places than towns instead of taking HM Fly out for good.
