-Hack Name: Pokemon Wood
Hack of: Blue
Introduction:
Hi, I'm Sawakita and this is my first hack.
Storyline:
The story is set in a region called Durma; it's heavily forested and towns are separated each others by woods and caves, that are inhabited by creatures called Pokemon.
This region is bureaucratically organized in Prefectures that accentuate those divisions.
You live in an almost forgotten village, located on the borders of Durma; your family is poor and often is unable to pay unbearable and unfair taxes. So one day, governor's envoy come to arrest your parents, all happening in front of you helpless presence.
That day a spirit of revenge begins burning inside you, and you leave your hometown to conquer the social redress that you deserve.
Features:
* A new storyline
* A new region (new cities, new routes, new caves);
* Durma has its own Pokedex, with Pokemon taken from generation 1, 2, 3 and 4;
* New battle sprites, taken from all the four generations, for pokemon and trainers;
* Also backsprites are no longer "grainy";
* New trainer types (devamped from newer versions);
* New events;

Special thanks:
*IIMarckus, for his "disassembly base", and for answering all my questions when I wasn't self-sufficient, and allowing me being what I am now;
*Mateo, for this forum and for the Skeetendo's logo design;
*Tauwasser, again for helping me figuring out things;
*Skeetendo Board, for being "brainly stimulating";
*Ubitux, for moral support;

Hi,
I've been looking forward to seeing where you were going with this hack, picking up from your postings that you've been working on writing custom Assembly code, and not being big headed about it.
I can't really think of any suggestions right now except keep up the good work.

Thanks! This is the reason why I look at this board every day.
I love it. Keep it up, it looks really promising.
My suggestions so far:
- less sea routes
- maybe some GSC Kanto tiles like Pokemon Green
- an evil team?
- running shoes ;)
- a shiny sign (even if there isn't a shiny status built-in; you could make it depending on the IVs like GSC)

Looks good mate! Definitely looking forward to seeing more from this hack. I actually like the idea of a lot of sea routes, haha. Seems like it will be pretty legit. Keep up the good work

Thank you. I'm honoured that an experienced hacker like you appreciate it.

First of all, thanks for your suggestions. It's appreciated.
- your first suggestion made me think that usually sea routes are boring because of their straightforwardness and annoying (because of all those tentacools!), so now I'm trying to think up something that makes them funnier to play;
- I already planned to insert some GSC tilesets, so it's nice to see that someone else would like it;
- actually government substitutes the component of the "evil team", since it opposes you during all the story;
- ok for running shoes (not yet, though);
- to be honest I never liked to much shinies, so if ill decide to implement them, they probably shall be the last change that the game will have;

Judging by screenshots, the hack looks really good ☺
Besides, I like the new look of the worldmap and it having lots of "ending points".

Looks amazing so far!
Only have a few suggestions:
- change the overworld srite
- and change the way you aquire your pokémon.

Here is an update: I finally managed to create the first script for Pokemon Wood.
It's pretty straightforward, but it's a beginning. I hope you enjoy it!

Nice one :)

Thank you.
Actually tilesets, home's map and hiro's overworld are most likely going to be different, as well as the pokemon that you receive at the beginning (in fact I've planned the starter to be something you probably won't expect!).

great, looks amazing, cannot wait to try it out :) keep up the good work...:)

Are you going to be adding the wood type as the hack is called Pokemon Wood, like CoolBoyMan did in Prism?
Offline
haha, probably not, since Wood is meant as "forest", more than as material. The types added in 2nd gen (dark, steel) are going to be updated, though.

Nice way of getting your pokémon, this is classed as a hack in my books now, i love hacks with a different way of recieving starter pokémon!!! >.<

Thread's screen updated (check first post). The player's sprite has been changed to Silver (I couldn't stand HGSS hero).
I should stop "wasting" time working on graphics, but, you know, scripting can be annoying sometimes (especially when scripts don't work the way they should..), so I tend to go doing something else for a while, then go back to ASM when motivation returns.

Looking nice, mate! I always love seeing updates in this thread. Looking forward to playing this one.

Another update for my dear SkeetendoBoard!
It's a video of another script. I think I'm slowly improving, this script is a little bit more articulated than the other one.
Let me know what you think.

Have fun.

Excellent script! I really like the introduction, it seems very well-done! If I may, here would be my suggestions:
Replace:
"Mom and Dad were arrested by the envoys from the Central Prefecture! They took them to the remote Abeth Jail waiting for someone to pay their ransom! I'm stunned, so please you do something!!"
With:
"Mom and Dad were arrested and taken to the remote Abeth Jail by envoys from the Central Prefecture! They won't be released until someone pays their ransom, so please do something!!"
Either way it sounds great so far!

Thank you.
I always appreciate language help, since I'm not the most fluent person speaking English. I'll update the texts as soon as possible.
Also, I forgot to say thank you to IIMarckus for the "exclamation mark" tip.

You make hacking red look so easy.

You make hacking red look so easy.
haha, well, I guess it's just a matter of methods. Learning ASM opens you a new world, believe me. Once you have learned it, you can do whatever you want. That, and a debugger.

I can't even modify connection data, let alone dabbling in ASM. Perhaps my brain doesn't think about it the correct way. Also, I lack motivation.
