Mmm...
Start studying the basics of hacking and perhaps you'll find an answer for questions 3, 4 and 5 later.

I wouldn't call any hex editor the easiest to use, they all require the same knowledge from the user.
I myself like GoldFinger the most.

For trainer's backsprite, you've to figure out the offset for the sprite itself and start modifying the bytes from there - or you can just use AgiXP for inserting a new sprite to its place (which really isn't the easiest thing to do).

Re: Pokemon Hacking help

1. The backsprite is compressed (I think, but I may be wrong), so I think you'll have to use AgiXP for inserting a new one.
2. The most commonly used hex editors are Translhexion or GoldFinger, though I prefer the latter.
3&4. Dunno. I know null, zero and nothing about RBY hacking... :-P
5. You need to use scripting.

Re: Pokemon Hacking help

Hiro's back pic offset = 3F9CB(260555 decimal)

48 x 48 pixels

Dude's Back Pic offset = 3FB5B

48 x 48 pixels

Re: Pokemon Hacking help

To find out the offsets of all the Pokemon (this guide may help):

Take the Pokemon's number and subtract one. Multiply this by six. Add 0x48000 to this.
This byte and the 5 bytes that follow it point to the front and back pics. The first three bytes are for the front pic, the next three are for the back pic.
For each three, the first is the bank, and the next two are the offset (in little‐endian). However, the bank bytes are special:
If it says 0x13 use bank 0x1F instead, if it says 0x14 use bank 0x20 instead, and if it says 0x1F use bank 0x2E instead.

Unown is a special case; it doesn't point Unown's pictures. Instead, turn the letter into a number (A = 0, B = 1, C = 2, etc.). Multiply this by six. Add 0x7C000. Once again, these six bytes are the addresses to the front and back pics.

Finally, each trainer is stored like this:
Take the trainer's id (I guess there's 66 since there's 66 pictures) and subtract one. Multiply this by three. Add 0x80000 to this.
These three bytes are for the front pic of the trainer.

As for how to change the palette of the "hiro", I don't know where it is. I know how the palettes work and can find them for the Pokemon and Trainers, but I don't know where it is for "hiro" or dude. Mateo: do you know? Also, do you know where the Egg's sprite is (and it's palette)?

You can try to hide yourself in this world of pretend; when the paper's crumpled up, it can't be perfect again.

Re: Pokemon Hacking help

I was thinking the Egg sprite is stored after the normal Pokemon sprites, but with an unused entry or two between them. And it can also be edited with Agixp by setting the Pokemon number to 253 I believe.
