You guys all rock!

Im a new member here, but im not new to pokemon. Quick history about myself, ill try not to make it a tl;dr post.
I was one of the lucky people who grew up during the epic era of Pokemon Red and Blue. Me and my friends got attached to the anime and video games. I promised to stay a loyal fan till the end. As time passed, I noticed the new games and episodes went downhill (to fit the new generation kids standards I think) but I still continue to get the latest games.
So now im 20, and out of everyone I know, Im the last remaining individual who is still into pokemon. We all still have similar hobbies and activities like basketball and video games but they just are not interested in Pokemon related material. Even when I was young and Pokemon Red and Blue were at its peak of popularity, I noticed some hacks. I cant remember the titles at the moment, but they were definitely gb and gbc hacks of pokemon. I decided that one day I would make my own stuff.
I love all the generations except 4 and 5 (but I only play those because of the metagame) I seem to be inclined towards the older gens like I and II. Maybe because of my fascination with old rumors and mysteries in my era (some of you probably know what im talking about) the mew under the truck, bills secret garden...etc. Plus the storyline and gameplay was so much better in those gens. So I kept searching all over the internet and found the pokemon hacking community. But majority were all into the new generation game hackings. Then I found out about a member named Sawakita (the guy with the awesome Slam Dunk avatar of Eiji Sawakita) and found out about Skeetendo, and everything about Skeetendo was what I believed in such as "Cause all games were better on the GBC".
I respect everyone from the pokemon hacking community and hope that you guys can continue doing what you do. Because i was inspired by you guys. Ive been lurking through the forums for a while until I finally decided to take an A+ course (like half a year, if not more) because I thought it would give me some knowledge in hacking the pokemon games (lol what I learned there had nothing to do with this, besides a little binary, everything was hands on repair). Now im A+ certified, with 2% knowledge in Pokemon hacking lol.
Long story short, I want to make a couple of my own pokemon hacks, contribute some works to the pokemon hacking community, and finally make my own personal pokemon game, but like an autobiography of my life and include the people in my life and events that took place and send the game to them. Hopefully my friends can remember how awesome these games are. I apologize for this wall of text, but if you actually made it to this point, I thank you for reading. I hope I can learn how to utilize these tools and resources to the best of my ability, and with everyones guidance.
btw im in pokecommunity forums as well, my username is
-Shingo-
Just wanted to point that out as ive seen alot of people from here in there

Re: You guys all rock!

Well welcome here.

Could you like..make paragraphs in that post? I almsot clicked back because it's hard to read when it looks that way. Anyway.

I'm glad you found the place, and glad you're interesting in the older games still. I know how you feel. I still play the older games on my DS. And even now, I'm making a hack called Pokemon Blue DX--a remake of Blue on the Silver platform. If you want to experience the rumors we grew up with, than wait for Mateo's Pokemon Secrets and Rumors. It too is a remake of Red--but with the rumors.

There are other hacks here too. And there is a lot of documentation. It took me about 3-4 weeks to basically learn how to make an efficient hack. About a month ago I would still be looking at the data and thinking "Oh God, I just can't do this." But it's actually not hard once you catch on.

Anyway, welcome to Skeetendo. It's a friendly place. Ask any question that you need help with and we'll try to help.

Thanks bro, and my apologies. Im not used to my new laptop, usually on my laptops the tab button indents, but I just got a macbook pro and when I press tab, it doesnt indent. Everything is so different so im trying to get used to it for the meantime, until I install Windows in it sometime this weekend.
And dude while i was lurking around for a while, i ran into your Pokemon Blue DX hack. Definitely something I would be looking forward to because of the improvements that are going to be made such as color upgrade (which would look so much better on the iphone since it comes out ugly yellowish), pokegear...etc. Keep up the good work bro, Ill be supporting you! And I know about Mateo too, ive seen some of his hacks which are pretty different, as in freakin awesome different. All I was able to do was make a very short, hack of fire red of my neighborhood and stuff. Didnt change the events (i dont know how yet haha) I just changed the text and other basic stuff. Its a good start I guess. Ill try to use my time in learning more about all the necessary stuff here so I can make my own hack.

I see.

Well, there's a beta over there now for both our hacks. They pretty much stop up at the same point. Mt.Moon.

I suggest you come here.

Resource Thread

It's a compilation of tools and documents I put into a single thread.

It's a good start.

However, you WILL need Windows to run many of the programs.

Sounds cool. Ill check it out. In the meantime I can just read about the programs but I should be installing Windows 7 in my mac very soon, either tomorrow or within 2 days so its no biggie. Ill just absorb everything I can for now. Thanks again.

Question: Why get a mac if it's for installing Windows in it afterwards?
Unless you meant to dualboot?

Because the specs on the macbook pro are good for its size and weight. I was going to get an Alienware laptop but they are too heavy, and the m11x isnt that powerful. The closest thing I could find to a mac in terms of what i mentioned is the Dell XPS laptops, which are about the same price so I rather get this. And what I meant is I am going to install Windows via bootcamp, basically dualbooting as you have said.

Oh and guys, i forgot to mention, im also in pokecommunity, my username is -Shingo-
dashes are included before and after the name shingo. Just wanted to point that out as ive seen some of you guys in there too.
