Why on earth do people write lists with n.???? n.Profit! at the end?

As in the title says, where such a thing come from? What is the point in adding two pointless things to end of a list? Is it one of these silly Memes that are floating around?

Yes, it is a silly meme. It came from an episode of South Park where Underpants Gnomes kept stealing people's underpants. Here was their plan:

You can try to hide yourself in this world of pretend; when the paper's crumpled up, it can't be perfect again.

It then went from South Park to the internet, where it is primarily used on 4chan and places. Admittedly, I do it too, because it amuses me, but I don't go to town on it.

Ah right thanks, I find it amusing now I understand it but the average Joe Bloggs will be clueless. Just a suggestion, but especially as we have non-English speakers on Skeetendo, should we consider keeping such memes confined to the General Discussion and out of the ROM Hacking sections?

Probably a good call.

Probably a nice thing for people to avoid out of courtesy, but two reasons to not make it a hard rule:

  • Humor can also be hard for non‐native speakers to understand. I hope we won’t confine humor in general from these boards.

  • Memes (and humor, and other things) are common online, so non‐native speakers will have to get used to them anyway.

True story.

I certainly agree with not making it a hard rule, but I'd like to also point out that there's a difference between understanding humour and understanding things like memes: the latter are limited within a certain location/language, while humour is almost anywhere the same (more or less). So I appreciate some good humour now and then (without overdoing it, obviously), but I rather dislike memes et similia.
