Has anyone ever actually fixed this yet?

I don't know how many people here have ever actually noticed, but the super effective/not very effective messages are occasionally wrong for two type Pokemon in Generation I (I actually noticed this with Zapdos, who is part Electric and Flying, but when attacked with an Electric move, it says super effective).

The damage modifier in the formula is correct; it's only the message that's wrong. Here is a website that explains exactly what happens (scroll to "The Type Message Experiment"). Someone should try to fix this if it hasn't been fixed already anywhere (also of note is that the sound effect matches the displayed text).

You can try to hide yourself in this world of pretend; when the paper's crumpled up, it can't be perfect again.

Probably easily fixable. Here is info on type effectiveness; the relevant code is probably nearby. As I recall the message is based on the first entry it picks up from the list.

Wrong. It's the last entry on the list. :P
And yes, that tutorial is actually the very first thing that got me back into Pokemon "hacking". And by hacking, I mean just learning the internals of the game. After reading that post, I set up a PHP script that read through the weaknesses and resistances and displayed them as text. It's actually still set up here because I rarely ever delete anything from my server.

Anyways, I'd love to give this a shot but I doubt my "abilities" at ASM are any good enough to be of use.

Then improve them! There are plenty of opportunities. ☺
