Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

For trainer battles, the intro portions should be kept mostly intact from the original Pokemon game to a degree (though if you can find a nice way to blend the intro into the upcoming song, more power to you).  Beyond that, I would prefer the rest of the song to be based off of the Touhou track.

For anything else, I would prefer the music be based entirely on the Touhou songs.

Because a lot of the original songs in Touhou can go on for quite a few minutes, I would prefer shortened loops for some of the longer ones, depending on where they will be used: A good example would be Eirin's theme, History of the Moon--this is the Pokemon Center theme in 3rd gen hacks, but is greatly shortened from its original version, since the player often isn't going to stick around long enough to hear the entirety of the track if it were kept the original length.
Composers can also play around with the tempo of a song if you feel like it is too fast (or slow)-paced for what it would be used for.

Anyways, here are some suggestions for songs I would like ported, and where they will most likely be used.

Wind God Girl (Aya's Theme) - Bicycle
Higan Retour ~ Riverside View (Komachi's Theme) - Surfing
Gensokyo Millennium ~ History of the Moon (Eirin's Theme) - Eirin Center
Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes (TH8 First Stage) - Route 29
The Fantastic Tales from Tono (TH7 Second Stage) - Routes 30-33
Nostalgic Blood of the East ~ Old World (TH8 Third Stage) - Routes 34-37, 45-46.
Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream (Yuuka's Theme) - Routes 38-39
Fall of Fall ~ Autumnal Waterfall (TH10 Fourth Stage) - Routes 42-44, Lake of Rage
Alice in Wonderland (TH5 Extra Stage) - Routes 26 & 27
The Venerable Ancient Battlefield ~ Suwa Foughten Field (Kanako's Theme) - Route 23, 28, Indigo Plateau
The Bridge People No Longer Cross (TH11 Second Stage) - Dark Cave, Ice Path, etc.
Eastern Mystical Love Consultation (Reimu's Theme from TH3 and SWR) - Wild Tohomon Battle (Johto)
Bad Apple!! (TH4 Third Stage) - Trainer Battle (Johto)

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

Here's a playlist with Touhoumon 1.8's OST.
It might help you with some ideas, since I think one of them did have a Johto post game...

Also, any updates on the ZUN battle? Has anyone else here been able to fight ZUN or not?

Edit: I hope you don't take offense to this, but in dedication of you, I named my Rival in my replay of Fire Red Omega as "Gemini" after you because I loved your hack so much.

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

I think I just found the weirdest bug ever.

I've been switching the .sav file between my phone and my computer so it might have something to do with that

the bug is that, after 11:59PM, the clock instead of going to 12:00AM goes to 12:00PM
After 12:59PM goes to 12:60PM and then to 1:00AM

Basically giving an hour of morning in the middle of the night.

when I load the battery file in vba in my pc, it always ask for adjust the clock. if I set it to 11:59pm only using the up keys and never using the down keys this can be repeated always. Same for the 12:60PM bug

I noticed the sav somehow keeps track between a date for playing on vba and for playing on my phone, since when I run the same sav in both emulators I get different times, but the difference is always the same

another weird bug that only has showed in the phone, is while in the fake 12:PM hour, that the minutes flickers. If my clock changes minutes at second 03(comparing with my laptop clock) it goes one minute back at 25 secons and goes back to the actual minure at 26 seconds.

Also, the day of the week is keep during the fake 12PM and changes when it reaches 1AM. using the down keys while selecting the date will somehow reset it and fix it for that play. if I use the down key one single time during the fake 12PM in the date selection screen, it doesnt show up there, but it launches as 12AM when going into the game

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

Okay, so on my phone the hour doesn't properly reset until the morning, so it goes up to like 18PM then goes back to early morning

Now, in order to bugs actually related to the game, interacting with the female pokefan in route 39 crashes the game, either just blocking it or forcing a reset with a weird color pallete. At least she doesn't walk towards you like a regular trainer, you have to talk with her.

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

So now that Sun and Moon are out, I find it pretty funny that your Hyper Potion nerf (200 HP to 120 Hp recovered) became a legit nerf in Sun and Moon. Anyways, any updates on what's preventing me from fighting ZUN?

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

In all honesty, I haven't really looked into it yet.  As a matter of fact, I'm more concerned with trying to find other bugs that may have crept up with this latest patch (the Route 39 one is definitely of concern that needs to be addressed).  If I'm going to release another patch, it may as well address more than a single issue, right?

But seriously, it will get fixed in the next update.

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

Okay, so here is what's going to happen.

Starting a week from now--I'm still in college and am prepping for finals--after which, I will begin doing an extensive playtest of my entire hack in another search for bugs, among other things.  I will be using some cheats to speed through the boring stuff, such as generating 99 Rare Candies to make leveling quicker and experiment with more Touhoumons and maxing out Casino coins, but beyond that this will be your typical, 100% playthrough where I try to do everything.  Through this playtesting I hope to round up whatever issues are still remaining, or may have cropped up with my latest patch...and possibly even figure out what's really going on with the ZUN encounter.

I understand it's been a long overdue wait for any updates from me, but I've had a lot on my plate for the past several months and it's only gotten harder to come back to this project after so long.  I'm just hoping for the day when I can finally resolve the biggest issues plaguing this hack once and for all so I can call it done outside of making some minor tweaks.

Ah, good luck with college and don't worry about taking your time! I've got to catch all the Ultra Beasts and do a lot of postgame stuff for Moon, so good luck on everything and I hope to see a bug fix soon. FYI, I used the Rare Candies cheat after beating all the Kanto Gyms, so it could possibly have to do with that as to why ZUN isn't appearing.

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

Dude, this might concern you, but....CoolBoyMan's Pokemon Prism hack got taken down by Nintendo. Now, I know you don't intend to charge any money on this game and I know about ZUN's policy on fangames, but be careful.

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

I heard about it from some friends and checked up here.  It's quite sad that it has come to this regarding not only fangames, but romhacks as well.

Still, I will not let this deter me.  I have recently started playtesting the hack, and have been applying some of the suggestions made here.  Already, I am finding myself rewriting some text dialogs and making minor adjustments to some trainers and item finds to better reflect the current earlygame design.  After all, what good are PSNcure and Bitter Berries when there are no opponents before the first Gym who inflict those statuses?

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

Playing through this, I noticed a few things you may want to fix. First, going north from Olivine City, the middle trainer on the set of ledges does not react to the player and crashes the game when talked to. Second, the three trainers who give you the Soft Sand (found by surfing south from Goldenrod) still refer to the player as a boy. Third, the move LittleLegion has no description on the Move info screen.

Anyway, this is the most fun I've ever had with a Pokemon game, so you've done well overall.

You're referred to as a boy b/c in Gold and Silver, there was only the option of playing as the male protagonist. All Gemini did was replace Gold's sprites with a devamped version of Maribel from the GBA Touhoumon games.

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

I'm aware of that. However, the dialogs have been altered in certain places in ways that suggest a female protagonist. It's completely non-essential, but consistency is nice to have.

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

Just in case somebody's still working on this... I found a bug - FlowerCannon is Water-typed in version 1.3, when it should ostensibly be Steel-typed

EDIT: For those wanting to fix them on their own... just go to offset 0x4202C, then change that bit from "15" (Type: Water) to "09" (Type: Steel)

EDIT2: Also, the female Pokefan in Route 39 causes the game to crash for some reason

You can always use the music I made as a reference to what you want to make. I have a few gameboy songs made on youtube, but they were done using FL studio.
Just look up Paradarx, you'll find it. I don't know if it'll help. What program do you use for making your songs?

Re: Touhoumon: Ordinary Version (Still kicking...)

I found a small issue, not in the game; but in the Touhoudex document that comes with the download.
Noticed that the last update on it was more than five years ago, so it may not be up to date. It lacks the locations for a bunch of mons, as well. I know you're not the one who wrote that, but could you put an updated version of the Dex file with your next release, please?

As for the romhack itself, it's pretty enjoyable and I haven't found any bugs so far. I'm at the first Gym.

Yeah, and I may actually be a little girl.
