Great job on the Unown typeface as that was funny but hard to read for me! How did you manage to squeeze that into text btw?

It uses the same Unown letters that are on the Ruins of Alph walls and in the Unown Dex. I invented a few for the digits, Poké¥en symbol, etc.

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

Most of my updates lately have been going on the new Polished Crystal Discord server. However, here's something to look at: a music player!

LWnF4YI.png

It's mostly copied from Sanqui's player for FroggestSpirit's Crystal Complete. I may extend its features in the future.

Edit: The interface is now cleaner, and the info overlaid on the piano roll can be disabled entirely.

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

You don't have the keep the volume bars dithered. We only did that because they overlayed the notes, but since you moved the piano roll up, you could make the bars solid again.

I've always wanted to revisit this and fix a few bugs but never got around to it. Perhaps I will take another look soon.

True, but I like the way they look. ;) Here's the current interface:

FDmA5mu.png

I'm adding up/down selection of the Ch1+Ch2 duty cycles and the Noise channel's set, just like the Wave channel's waveform and the Pitch+Tempo adjustments. It's still buggy, but right now I'm going to sleep.

Will keep an eye on Crystal Complete for any merge-able bug fixes. (Possibly the piano roll's bleed-through into the song list?)

Please vote for which Pokémon type changes you want to see, if any: http://www.strawpoll.me/13640191
Of course, if you already voted via Discord or PokéCommunity, don't vote again.
And comment if you think none of those changes would be good.

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

What would the reasoning be behind making Parasect Ghost type?

I can see adding Normal type to Ponyta/Rapidash, and giving Bellossom/Celebi Fairy type (and -to some extent- Fire type on Octillery), but without knowing why the changes would need to be made it just feels like new types for the sake of new types :s

In-game: the mushroom effectively kills the host bug and controls its movements like a zombie. Out-of-game: there are few Ghost types, and Grass/Bug has two 4x weaknesses.

Kingler: there are few Steel types, and it has a powerful claw and learns Metal Claw. (Weak justification, I know. Likely won't do this one. It's at least useful as a baseline of how cavalier non-Faithful players are about custom types.)

Weezing: it learns Fire Blast, and its poison gas can ignite. (Again, weak.)

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

I like that explanation for Parasect.
As for Kingler I guess we could pretend that Kingler's carapace is as hard/strong as steel or something.

I think modifying the character lore a bit is completely fair in a rom hack, and for people who don't like the changes there's the faithful version anyway.

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

Considering that this game allows you to collect all 251 Pokemon, it would seem pointless to trade from the other games, considering how much of this hack changes the base Crystal.

Most likely the reason why the Time Capsule is inoperable, according to Bill in-game as it was fried and had to be shut down, but you get an Eevee that was sent by Prof. Oak in the past before the Time Capsule was shut down.

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

Acrozz has made an incredible map of Polished Crystal's overworld. It fills in the empty areas between maps with trees, cliffs, and water, and even adds visible NPCs. Well worth viewing on a high-res monitor.

Here's the version without (major) spoilers (1.62 MB; 14,080×6,624px = 93 MP).

And here's the version with (most) spoilers (2.09 MB; 14,080×9,280px = 130 MP).

Edit: Here's a 1920×1080 version suitable for wallpaper.

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

That's incredible. Magnet train rail looks a bit odd but that's probably the only issue I could say I'd have about it. Technical limitations are probably a great explanation why it can't look better though. :p

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

I'm running a poll on PokéCommunity about what moves should still be changed, if any. (Scroll to the top of the thread.)
Some ideas:

• Remove Triple Kick (only learned by Hitmontop, Hitmonlee, and Dodrio)
• Remove Lock-On (only really useful for DynamicPunch and Zap Cannon)
• Remove Harden (replace with Defense Curl, using Harden's animation for Metapod, Kakuna, etc)
• Remove Fury Cutter (Bugsy gives the U-turn TM in HGSS)
• Add Rock Blast (Skill Link Cloyster benefits from coverage)
• Add Bug Bite (early physical Bug move)
• Add Struggle Bug (early special Bug move)

I'd welcome any other suggestions here (but please vote in the poll too). And if you're a competitive battler, take a look at the learnsets and available TMs/HMs/tutors. Do any Pokémon stand out as needing just one or two moves to be much more useful?

There have been a lot of changes recently, but here's one with an accompanying screenshot: Hidden Grottoes!

Will there be a visual indicator that a hollow is there? In BW2 the patch of trees was darker than normal.

(also, would anyone happen to have an .ips of the most recent build? I can't figure out all the mumbo magic to assemble it myself).

Cool! But can I make a request about it? There's an unfinished tunnel west of Route 32; please don't explore it yet, it's an empty dead end. I think there's also a tileset error with some maps. Can I send you an updated patch?

Re: Pokémon Polished Crystal 2.2.0

Yeah feel free to send me an updated patch, I just finished Episode 1 (which goes to right after Lyra teaches us how to catch Pokemon).

Will my current save be compatible with the new Patch?

If not no big deal, I haven't started uploading anything yet, and thus I can start over fairly quickly.
