Pokemon Prism receives cease and desist

https://daily.pokecommunity.com/2016/12 … se-desist/

I never thought I'd see the day but there it is in black and white. The first pokemon Rom hack this has happened too.

Was it too big for it's own boots or is Nintendo getting greedy?

What does this mean for the hacking communities?

Brown and Prism brought a lot of people to the hacking world, I was genuinely excited to put my copy of Prism on for the first time on Christmas morning, I've been waiting for maybe over ten years now, as I'm sure a lot of others were. This is a genuinely sad day.

The saddest thing is there's no such thing as an ex addict. Either you're fighting addiction or you're not and if you start fighting you never stop. That's the nature of the monster.

It was a really stupid idea to make a trailer like this and hype the game everywhere to this scale. I don't think there's really anything greedy about not allowing people to freely use your IP like this.

My thoughts too. It's a shame though, there have been other hacks in the past to have such large scale hype and trailers and the like, it seems Nintendo is really cracking down this year.

Re: Pokemon Prism receives cease and desist

I'm really disappointed with this. If it was a threat to the franchise in any way or if the creator made a lot of money by charging for the rom I could understand, but I just don't feel it's justified. This won't kill rom hacking, and worst case scenario the way hacks are distributed will change.

edit: leaks are out.
