No other updates/screenshots at the moment, because I am currently working on a tool that I will release later this week.

Tool for what?

Its a map editor that's designed for the disassembly, so it will directly read/write to the corresponding mapblock files, header files, etc and will use the actual tileset pngs, item names, sprite pngs, etc.

So far I have successfully read and parsed everything I need into memory, I just have to implement the functions to reconvert this memory information into output files and then create the user interface to actually modify the data.

So it won't be later this week, but probably next week.

Cool. I was hoping this would pop up soon!  Hopefully the structure and contents of pokered files are fairly constant from now on.

Re: [Red] Pokemon TRE2: Team Rocket Edition, The Revamped Episode

Thanks! There are a few caveats, for example I require that all tileset block ptrs be placed in a separate file (instead of just residing in the main.ASM file).  But after you do that once it should be good to go.

And yeah, I agree about the for consistency Hahah. And hopefully people who already have modified the files I extract the pointers from haven't reformatted it in anyway, or it won't work for them

Re: [Red] Pokemon TRE2: Team Rocket Edition, The Revamped Episode

Copypasta from PokeCommunity:

Another update:

I've taken another brief break from working on GlitchMap to update some more battle features in TRE2.

I re-added in the type chart and updated the script to calculate attack damage based upon types (2x, 0.5x, 0.x, and 1.5 for STAB).

On another note, I've had some complaints about the type chart because it deviates so much from the original one.  I won't be removing any of the new types, but I would really appreciate some critique of the type chart.

You can view it here:
http://poketre.com/typechart.htm
or on the fourth tab here:
http://poketre.com/?battle

I am not as knowledgeable about these types of pokemon mechanics as many of you are, so please give me any suggestions or comments!

Thanks!

That's a lot of types!

The interactions aren't interesting to me so much as qualitative aspects like Electric-types having high speed or Grass-types mostly using status afflicting moves. That dynamic was lost around gen 4 when every type got a base 90 attack. I think the way to go from there is to capitalize on the abilities of each monster on a case by case basis. Types are just a shorthand for that.

You can actually view which pokemon have a given type by going to the fourth slide here:
http://poketre.com/?battle
and clicking on a type.  From there, you can view what pokemon have a given type.

Let me know if tha tworks

Thanks!

For an update:

I finished adding in all of the ways a moves damage can be modified (type effectiveness, STAB, the environment, a pokemon's ability, etc). I also added in the text that alerts the player how the attack the modified, but this text can be set to a "Reduced" mode where it will only display the type effectiveness and ability.

Up next comes adding Special Defense, and then adding in all of the new status's and move effects.

Hey, just so you know, poketre.com looks like this on my computer (I'm using Firefox):

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks totally normal in Safari. Maybe I have an add-on or something in Firefox that's messing it up lol.
