bankE problem

Cygwin is yelling at me for cramming too much into bankE. I think it's the Metal Claw and Iron Tail moves I added to "data/moves.asm". Which files can and should I move to solve this problem?

Re: bankE problem

I take it you mean "engine/battle/unused_stats_functions.asm" at least, but what are the others I should move if I'm to safely clear up space in bankE?

Re: bankE problem

There's a lot of stuff you could move out, honestly.

It would be fairly simple to move BaseStats into another bank, but requires slightly more than just moving the INCLUDE line.
The TradingAnimationGraphics can be anywhere, if I remember correctly. I know I moved them out in Red++.
Trainer party data should be relatively simple to move as well, since ReadTrainer is self-contained, and already called from another bank, so as long as you move that and the trainer_parties.asm and trainer_moves.asm out together, you should be fine.

Re: bankE problem

I tried moving TradingAnimationGraphics... it didn't work. I didn't see the trainer party data in bankE, and I don't know what else to move besides the INCLUDE line for BaseStats should I move it.

Re: bankE problem

I still don't get it. I mean, I do get the new thing in there, but what does that mean, exactly?

Re: bankE problem

It means it can find the base stats data in any bank now. The only other place that looked up BaseStats already called it from another bank. So unless I'm forgetting something, you should be able to just make that change I linked you to, and move the INCLUDE line for the base stats into another bank, and that would be it.

Re: bankE problem

OK, it compiled again, but it only fixed one thing: it turned Oak's sprite 90 degrees further towards where he should be facing. I've still got the male backsprite despite playing as the female player character. (BaseStats, by the way, is now in bank10 in my hack.)

Re: bankE problem

Neither this change or altering the bag capacity should have any impact on Oak's script in his lab. I'll try compiling your rom to see if I can duplicate it, but that bug is strange because of the unrelated things that seem to be causing it. As for the backsprite, you must have skipped a step in my tutorial or something because it accounts for the backsprite. But I'll look into that when I compile it too.

Re: bankE problem

The code for backsprites looks correct, at least at first glance. Still haven't had a chance to try it out first hand but are any of her other sprites causing you issue, or just the backsprite?

Re: bankE problem

Just the backsprite AFAIK (and Professor Oak's sprite, assuming "sprite turns the wrong way" counts as far as that department's concerned).
