Re: Pokemon Pyrite

i think i found some bugs:

- 1. whenever you try to deposit cleanse tag in the pc the games freezes? it's something very weird that better explained with images:

2LsMl5.gif DrSz8AD.png

for some reason the last part is missing, after resetting that game pak screen is showed and you can't do anything bar resetting... so strange

- 2. in rock tunnel there are some trainers (unless you, for some reasons, put there random npc's) that i can't battle, they're like if a battled before but no... these are the ones:
4YJC3In.pnguDn24iT.pngOozy0iy.pngsGe2ukk.png

i would like to battle them even if i need to edit them manually with an hex editor or smthng....

- 3. where i can catch smeargle? it doesn't have a location in the pokedex, unless you made it obtanaible by event (or the pokedex location is missing) it's unobtainable

i think i am forgetting other minor bugs, i'll tell you later if i remember

also for the record i am USING VBA-M if that's helps, i haven't tried other emulators

EDIT1:

another bug, visual one:

HHiwoj.gif

route 10 sign is missing for some reason

EDIT2:

i tried in BGB but cleanse tag bug still present...

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

1 was already pointed out, but I couldn't replicate it with BGB or VBA. Did you have any item in the PC? Could you deposit any other item other than Cleanse Tag without the game crashing?

I wasn't aware of 2. Could be duplicate flags so I will investigate. Did it happen with all the Rock Tunnel trainers, or only with some? Did it happen with trainers anywhere else too?

3. Someone already pointed that out in PC so I added Smeargle as a wild mon somewhere. You'll need the last version of the hack though, which was uploaded around 10 days ago iirc.

The last minor bug is fine, I noticed it already happens in Crystal. So to speak, it would've been a bug if the trainer was one step behind.

Thanks.

re: cleanse tag

first i made a copy of the sav file, i'll try to upload it somewhere and post it here later if you wanna test with it. and yes i have more items in the pc and i didnt have any problem with any other items.

re: trainers in rock tunnel

i dont really know what happened here. i tried again the other day and the 4 trainers (the one in the pics in my post above) challenged me as they should, i didnt have any problems with more trainers and i didnt touched anything as (sav, rom, emulator) everything was as i left the last time, really weird

re: smeargle

i am 100% sure  was using the latest version but i wasn't. im dumb

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

The Cleanse Tag bug has just been fixed and the hack has been reuploaded. The cause was that the 2-byte word of the Mystic Water price was shifted 1 byte corrupting the Cleanse Tag usage property. This was causing 3 glitches: Mystic Water's price was 3 pokedollars, Cleanse Tag displayed a useless USE option in the menu, and depositing Cleanse Tag in the PC led to undefined behavior.

double post to say in the underground path from cerulean city to saffron city there is a unobtainable hidden item as its inaccessible where it is

that's likely to be intentional, I did that in a few places for some events, because it was the fastest way to get rid of them in a map editor.

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

Several questions:
How does the move tutor decide what move to teach? Sometimes it changes what it tries to teach, like most of the time I try my dodrio it tries to teach sky attack, but sometimes I saw other moves like rage, for example. If I try to teach it right after rejecting, it tries the same move, even if it was already teached (after teaching megadrain to my tentacool, he tried to teach megadrain again, so nothing happened, no coins used)
is there something that changes what move teaches? the more logical thing is that it randomly changes from one day to other, but I'm not 100% sure.
Can it teach thunderbolt and ice beam, or I have to use the other move tutor that appear in goldenrod?

Is there any spot to get the twistedspoon? I would have put it into wild abras/kadabras, but I'm not sure. there are more different psychic types, and aready got 2 sunglasses from murkrows (one caugth because I thought it was rare, other from a shiny)

If you want the itemfinder to stop pinging off them, you could just set them to be normal signs instead of hidden items. Could make theur text point to the "oobject event" script in bank 0 so if someone did manage to get to them, it wouldn't crash or anything.

The moves rotate every real time hour. If say Dodrio can be taught 7 different moves through the tutor, the same move will repeat every 7 hours.

It's indeed held by some wild abra and kadabra, but you can also find one twistedspoon in cerulean cave.

If you want the itemfinder to stop pinging off them, you could just set them to be normal signs instead of hidden items. Could make theur text point to the "oobject event" script in bank 0 so if someone did manage to get to them, it wouldn't crash or anything.

I honestly never thought about the issue it would bring when the itemfinder is used. Thanks for pointing out. I guess most "displaced" hidden items won't be an issue since they would be far enough from the walkable boundaries of the map, but ill try to fix those that aren't.

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

now that we're talking about the move tutor, is rock slide a move that golem can learn via move tutor?

considering it was a gen 1 tm i thought so but i tried a while ago like 19345836 of times (by resetting the clock) and got like 10-12 moves or so but no rock slide. also some of them popped a lot , bide like 15 or more (such a useful move <.<), and others very little like double-edge like 2-3 times. could you explain or i was simply unlucky?

also if you still care to pull some bugfixing:
- some trainers in fuchsia gym and a swimmer in route 19 have names
- visual bug w/ a berry tree in route 8 (cause the tree is in a flower tile and you can see the flowers movement)

If I remember correcty rock slide is an egg move on geodude, meaning that it can be taught already in another way. I left egg moves from the tutor on purpose.

thanks for pointing these out, will look into them

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

So far trainers are not named which is a bit nitpicky on my part but i want them names, mainly because of the phone feature. Do all trainers have no names or only the new ones, because i like being called on the phone for battles and other things and yes even calls from Joey are welcome.

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

Bummer, wish there was some re-battle-able trainers other than the elite 4 *coughrebattlinggymleaderscough*. Well as for difficulty it certainly has that, i was also expecting the moves just be a bit late but when i got that NPC trade Larvitar it learned thrash sooner (which i dont complain btw) Also, i asume that trade with item evolutions are simply item evolutions now?

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

No Pokemon requires an item other than a stone to evolve. Trade evolutions may have become level evolutions, happiness evolutions, or stone evolutions.

Re: Pokemon Pyrite

i think i found a new bug

my last pokemon in the pc box got duplicated after getting the mr. mime. i'll explain, i had 6 pokemon in party, my last was the red gyarados (hm slave), i left it in the pc box, i got the mr. mime, i came back to pc, 2 red gyarados (lol)

this haven't happened to me before, so i guess it has to do with the recent fix of not being able to return the pokemon given by him ?

also i'm playing the last updated version i think or at least very recent as i downloaded it 03/11 it says
