As for which offset to to use, you could use the ROM map to give you an idea of where the music is stored if you wanted to replace a song for example. But this is a GSC tool only so I'm not sure why you're trying to use RBY roms.

It's also possible that you've got your ROM set to read-only.

I was saying that it says that R/B are .gbc but they are not.  Anyway, I've checked my Gold and Crystal and they are not read-only.  Also, what's a ROM map?

Re: Midi->GSC

You'll need to be familiar with hex editing for this. Yes, it can support RBY if you edit the pkms.asm, and know what you're doing.
I suggest using a hex editor to insert the song if further trouble ensues...

Hey, this anvil studio is great.

Though i don't really get how to use loop on anvil, so im changing manually at hex editor.

To anyone there having trouble on doing good sound, try this way i did.
File>open song
delete all tracks that won't be needed.
Just leave 3 tracks then save as (file name) then
File>export midi-format 0 file...>choose the name that you have have. Then just press ok.
Then edit manually edit the looping to your hex.
FF is the of every channel.

So, this is how you edit the music of your hack?

@FroggestSpirit
Could you put the "pkms.asm" for Pokémon Red/Blue in this topic, please?

But do you have the "pkms.asm" file for Pokémon RBY, or do we have to make it by ourself?

Re: Midi->GSC

Look at both the pkms.asm included here (for gold, which is actually a modified version of pkms.asm for rby from the famitracker importer)
Also look at that pkms.asm, as it is for RBY. There are a few things you might need to change namewise, but for the most part, the rest is just numbers. I don't have a working pkms.asm for midi to RBY, but it will literally only take you like 3-5 minutes when you figure it out.

Re: Midi->GSC

80C.

When you convert it in FAMITRACKER they would work Ideal. Than I have on my PC RBY instruments in SF2 format and I change all chanells in my Midis to fit ideal with RBY rom instruments.

Re: Midi->GSC

I just want people to remember, this thread (and tool) is called "Midi>GSC" for a reason. Maybe I will do a RBY edition sometime, but don't hold your breath.

That would be nice. I wonder how converted MIDI code will look in RBY ASM.

Re: Midi->GSC

Actually all you have to do is open pkms.asm and know what you're doing when you edit it.
The only difficult part I'd say is converting drums, otherwise it shouldn't be too hard to do it.

Re: Midi->GSC

Can someone please make an easy to follow step by step tutorial on how to edit GSC music?
I do not understand ASM, I dont understand pointers, I dont know that much of channels and Midi format 0 (or whatever number it is)

I really really love those games and I like to edit them and play them again again and again. I'm waiting for a tool to edit the music for more then 2 years now, and it still isn't there yet many people have editted their music. I can't edit it myself becaue I just don't understand, I've watched all those tutorial videos and read almost every page on this forum but i still dont get ASM/Hex editing enough. Please help me.. It would be so cool if I could edit the music to whatever song I like.

Gameboy advance pokemon editing is so much easier, I understand that you guys don't like that easy editing because it requires no skill, but if you dont have the skill you can never enjoy a cool game made by mostly yourself. It shouldn't be a matter of having skill or not in the end fun is the most important thing right? Gold/Silver are in my opinion the best pokemon games out there and for me its really frustrating that I can't edit those games the way I want.

Can you guys please make some more tutorials like for example the tiltlescreen edit tutorial by mateo and the videos of miksy91?

Re: Midi->GSC

I made a huge tutorial on how to use This program alongside Anvil studio, sadly its in spanish so You may not understand it. I may do an english version once I get more data about the Drums channel. The tutorial has a download for the Midi2GSC program at the very end in case you need it since the download link here is dead.
