Transferring a GB/C ROM hack to a GameBoy cartridge?

Hey there,

so I am currently working on a rather simple hack for pokemon Crystal and I was wondering if it was possible to transfer this hack to a cartridge somehow. I found a thread on the net somewhere but that was about GBA games, so I am not sure. Furthermore, if that is indeed possible, are there any downsides? Would that transferred hack work for Pokemon Stadium? I'm changing nothing about the pokemon except for minor changes in moves they learn, all other changes are about the trainers and the maps.

If you could answer any of these questions, that'd be very helpful. Thanks in advance,

pallando

There are three commercial sd/usb flash carts that are capable of running nearly any game. Of these I prefer the first in the list. None supports the real time clock feature G/S/C make use of though.

2. http://nonelectronics.com/ems64usb
3. http://derpcart.com/buy.html

Thank you for the answer! Any idea on whether it gets recognized by Pokemon Stadium though? And if the real time clock doesn't work, what's the side effect? Is the time frozen or will it switch randomly?

Re: Transferring a GB/C ROM hack to a GameBoy cartridge?

This is a pretty late reply, but as someone who owns an Everdrive and a EMS Smart Card I'd like to clear some things up.

The Everdrive does not work with Pokemon Stadium, but the EMS card does. Neither of them have clock support. The clock will stay stuck at the time you set it for. There are patches you can get for GSC that will allow you to adjust the time freely.

I don't know anything about the Drag N Derp, so I can't say about that.

There is supposed to be some way to get the Everdrive to work with Stadium, but it involves also owning an Everdrive 64, and modifying a transfer pak. There's more information on the Everdrive forums.

ROM hacks work on Stadium, unless the ROM header has been modified, in which case Stadium will think it's a different game. It won't recognize new Pokemon, moves, or items, and the GB tower won't work if the ROM has been heavily modified. I've gotten stuff like Pokemon locations, music changes, or clock hacks to work, but things like map hacks usually will just give a "Transfer Pak set incorrectly" error.
