Special or physical?

If I add new special/physical split in pokemon gold i.e based on contact not type then i replace wing attack by air slash and give it aeroblast animition, Will it be special or physical? A person said that physical/special depend upon animation.

Not sure why you felt the need to make a new thread for this instead of just asking it in the thread where you originally asked about adding the physical/special split, but anyway...

As far as I know, the routine that I linked you to has nothing to do with the animation the attack uses but instead checks the move number. There is a table at x99400 (aka "26:5400") that defines each skill as being physical or special. A value of 00 will make the move physical, and a value of 01 will make it special. Non-Damaging moves also appear to be listed internally as physical in that list. Since Wing Attack was originally physical, it should still be physical if you turn it into Air Slash, unless I am mistaken.

In three first generations, every attack of same type are either physical or special, depending of the attack's type.
For example, every water type attack is special move and every fighting type attack is physical move.

I appreciate your reply but looks like you havn't read my post carefully. I said that after applying the new special/physical split that was introduced in generation 4.
