Re: How to translate language in pokemon gbc?

You can edit most of the stuff you like simply with a hex editor, table file and Poketext.
Poketext is a trustworthy program if (AND only if) you know how it works. If you just play around with Poketext, you'll eventually corrupt the rom and if you don't understand how several in-game data structures work in general, there's nothing you can do about fixing stuff you may cause with it.

Anyway, translating any pokemon game is a piece of cake - one of the easiest rom hacking tasks you could go for. What you simply need is a hex editor, a table file (Giegue's Master hacking guide has one) and a little bit of knowledge how to use them. Once you know, you can make things a bit easier by "taking Poketext along" which makes text editing a lot more efficient, again if you know how to use it properly without messing up anything inside the rom. Poketext has a saving problem along with another bug about sometimes not being able to load text data properly. If you want to use it, do some experimenting and you'll notice how to easily avoid the bugs it might cause.

I think he also means Vietnamese characters instead of Latin letters. I think the simpliest way of doing that is replace the letters with characters in the Same order as They are written on a QWERTY keyboard.

Re: How to translate language in pokemon gbc?

@TheMoneyOfTheWorld : The Vietnamese character is as same as latin letters, example a sentence that mean "hello" in vietnamese will like this : "Xin Chao", so i think that it will be easy to translate. Anyway, i have used Poketext before, i tried but, as you said, i don't have enough experimenting to use. So i crashed my rom, and made it unable to open. Ok, i will try to use hex editor.

Re: How to translate language in pokemon gbc?

I began to translate Pokémon R/B/Y to Dutch, a while ago. If I will finish it ever, I will call it Pokémon "Rood", "Blauw" and "Geel", which is Dutch for Red, Blue and Yellow.
