For what I remember from my childhood, the first series was cool (the Kanto episodes), but after the Orange League... things slowly became be boring, I mean, in an episode Ash & Company were doing nearly impossible things that have to do with Pokemon, and situation that absolutely have nothing to do with the videogame history, and the more seasons passed the more bizzarre this situations became, and at the end there's always the same Team Rocket grunts that are trying to stop our heroes but they then blow up in the sky...
after 3 seasons I was very broken and started instead watch action movies with gunfire shots everywhere, huh, these were the 90s, ya know...

yah ur ryt ..
Same as you guys. Kanto, johto and orange islands were best.
Watched the first 2 seasons. Memorable:
Ash thought Pikachu was telling him a group of Clefairy wanted to do the Macarena.
Ash, Brock and Misty make up funny names in the episode based on the Yojimbo film.
The entire surfing episode.
Ash said he wished Prof. Ivy would train his PKMN, Brock said he wished she would train him.
Yep, the first seasons had good memories, I still remember I used to watch the first seasons as soon as they landed in EU - I remember better the very first Season, it was so exciting that it seemed very long to me.
Most memorable moments of the first season I remember:
- Ash that beats Brock after very intensive training of Pikachu;
- When Ash meets Bulbasaur;
- When Ash meets Charmander (there was a strong connection between them, infact he even evolved in the last episodes but Charizard as far as I remember wasn't very happy to follow Ash's orders);
- When Ash meets Squirtle (nice sunglasses, huh!);
- The episode of Gastly in which he transforms in Venustoise to scare both Squirtle and Bulbasaur (Best WTF moment in Pokemon series I think);
- The episodes of the SS Anne that shipwrecks (that was a fight against time and death, cool);
- The episode after the first fight against Lt.Surge in which Pikachu could be exposed to a Thunderstone but he refuses);
- The episode of Blaine;
- The last one;
and remember also the first movie!
The best moment I think is the moment of the fight between the 2 Mews (MEW OG VS MEW2, the best of ever);
I think the originality of this series abandoned us in the last episode of the Orange League (in which Ash should left all his pokemon exept Pikachu so he could go in Hoenn).
I remember when I saw Ho-Oh fly in the sky at the sunset in the very last episode of the 3rd season, I thought also the good days of Pokemon series were leaving us.
Now in the most recent seasons I see:
.Guys that use Regirock just like a normal Pokemon;
.Pikachu that does the impossible in fights;
.Mysteriously Pikachu changed his apparently sex from male to female;
.WHY, WHY, WHY they would keep again Ash?
I think they should have dropped him and introduce instead Brendan or someone else - so it has more sense instead of... huh, leave all his pokemon exept pikachu before ash & Co. are entering in a new Region???
Restart just like rookie trainers when Ash has already won 32 Medals + 3 leagues???
No man, that has no sense... now is too late.
.why banish earthquake???? I know the Fukushima disaster was traumatic, but earthquakes happen almost every day in the world, and 2\3 disasters happen each month somewhere in the world, show an Earthquake in a toon doesn't mean that is an ungrateful thing...
.Team Rocket is always trying sticking at Ash butt like a leech and does the impossible... WTF???
Why they didn't stayed in Jotho as they should have done???
.I think the producers should have focused more on the other teams and make more original things, if only they just TRIED to show the plot of Ruby\Sapphire (thing that they always didn't) then the 4th season would have been great (3rd generation was still good - because it was created meanwhile they were developing GS).
And, just in the first episode of Hoenn series I saw a Duskull scare May - I said "WTF? What does a Duskull near Littleroot Town???)
No, believe me, after Orange league producers focused more on profits than fun...
