Good day to you all! I'm Eric, a VB.NET Programmer (though, I still am in my college level), and of course, I love Pokemon games! :)
After studying the basics of hex editing Pokemon GSC, especially the evolutions, I finally made the evolutions editor, which is most useful when you want to eliminate trade and stone evolutions in these games.
And without further ado, here's the link: GSC Evolution Editor
Password for the zip file is sceptile30. And by the way, you also need Microsoft .NET Framework 4 for this program to work and here's the link to that: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download … x?id=24872
Please send me your comments and feedback about this, and oh, a simple thanks and show of appreciation wouldn't hurt for a free tool. Thanks! :)

I downloaded the program, not for use but to see how well you succeeded in making it and for posting feedback. I didn't test saving data in rom but it seems to handle all kinds of things you can currently do with it (doesn't allow to change to "Stats" evolution for those without room for it and that kind of things).
It could still be made better though but it's a good tool for starting out. If you made it so that the user could change the moves those pokemon learn and at what levels, it would simplify things a little bit. And once you get the hang of pointers (I didn't test it but since you're just gotten the hang of hex editing, I didn't think this tool would support it), it could be made to load the evolution&moveset data determined by the pointer table above Bulbasaur's evolution data.

It looks ok for a start. In addition to the things Miksy pointed out, you really aught to make it so we can expand the list of stones. While apparently people have decided in the last week or two that stone evolutions are "bad" some of us not only don't mind, but invent new stones for evolutions and your editor would not support these. Also, I'm assuming this doesn't follow their move/evolution pointer, so if I had repointed a Pokemon already to add new moves or evolutions, this wouldn't edit those, correct? I could easily check this myself but I don't have the christmas hack with me to test it on one where I've done this already. All in all, it's off to a good start though.
I am not very active on this forum. I only pop in from time to time.

That's right, it doesn't support adding new evolutions and I'm not really planning on studying how to do those haha :)
For the expansion of stone items, I will try adding more of it when I have time.
And as Miksy had suggested, I plan to start on GSC Moveset Editor, but now's just not too good to me, maybe some other time.
Anyways, thanks for your feedbacks! :)

Let me start by saying how amazing you are for actually producing an Evolution Editor. I've scoured the web for an editing tool due to my lack of skill with hex editing, and this is a godsend. Thank you!

Hello. I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 and am getting the following error when I try to execute the program:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
My question: I have already installed the .NET framework that you provided, so do I need to be in a compatibility mode (XP, Vista, etc) or is the problem totally different.
Thanks!

I also am using Windows 7 64bit, and I made this program and of course, it's running perfectly fine. Try to redownload the tool and make sure you have installed the .NET Framework

Re-downloading did the trick! Thank you!

Great tool! but I don't think it works with crystal version. Once you hit save, it resets whatever you changed. It works for G/S though.
