Applying Trainer Classes and names to NPCs in Gen I

Now knowing the history of Generation I games, because of how limited the hardware the game had, having an actual name for regular Trainer NPCs was impossible because of space limitations, but giving how much a Gen I game is hacked, whether by simpler means, or ASM, would it be possible to incorporate proper names for regular Trainer NPCs, as well as Trainer Classes for important Trainers like the Gym Leaders or Rival and Elite Four?

With assembly, it'd be more than possible to be done.
And normally at this point, you'll only find the question, "How?", but no answer for it. Well, this situation is different since it shouldn't require that much coding to build this kind of a feature in the hack.

But programming skills required.

Its just been awhile since I did a question XD Even if most of them are just obvious, but yeah. And on this note, makes me wonder, why not a lot of people who do Gen I hacks try to do something like that, I mean after while, you start to get a little bored encountering a Trainer that just goes by their name, or Trainer Class, be nice to get the now put back into the then, if you know what I mean XD
