More Tile Animations

Hey all.

I've got a question for everyone here. What other tiles would you like to see animated in GSC/RBY? By animated tiles, I'm referring to water, flowers, waterfalls, whirpools..you get the picture.

So what other tiles would you like to see with animations of any kind? Or new ones you'd like to see added in? Please let me know.

You could have the wind blowing on one of the routes. Like have the tall grass moving with it. Have any trees in the area move too. Maybe add a windmill in the game so people get that the wind is blowing. I can't wait for your beta.

its nice to have a Light post that is glowing at night. Or a fire torch for a tribal town maybe?

I don't know how far you planned your maps and the whole region but a volcano would be awesome. Animated lava tiles with vapor similar to Blackthorn City Gym/Mt Chimney/Lavaridge Town. If you're planning a futuristic themed city there could be also little LED screens.

Thanks for all of the input so far, really liking it. Any more suggestions/ideas? Even if it seems 'impossible' or impractical, I'd still love to hear it.

I would like to see tiles that warp to another floor with an animation like it is rising up. This is based on a hack that I want to make but don't yet know how (it would be for DS emulators) where a gym does that. If possible, it should wait to rise until you step on it, and if you step on it and are in range of a trainer, you have to beat the trainer to activate it for the first time.


I haven't been on this site for a very long time. Sorry about that! >.<
I am probably not going to get very far in the ROM projects that I've started, at least until I get more experience hacking, so I apologize.

A tile that will change the map's pallete. Making it easier to implement a sunny weather. This counts as animated tile right?

Supposed to be possible through some assembly hacking.
Should be easier to be done with trigger events instead if the hacker wouldn't want to use it very often.

Prism has lava, it's the same of the Bruno's Room at the E4.

All the animated tiles I (and someone else I think) could love to see in RBY:

Lava, Waterfall, whirlpool and I always whished see a neon lights used for the casino that turns on and off.

You could try use magma animation in a ROM by replacing the flower tiles animation with magma ones, but doing this you won't be able to have animated flowers, but magma bubbles.
