Getting a level script to work (Gold)

With JohtoMap, I changed the map script offset at Oak's Lab to 0x1660D0. I tried putting a script there, but nothing happens when I enter Oak's lab. I've tried looking at what Secrets & Rumours does for the map script, and it looks like it calls a few pointers.

Can somebody explain to me how to make level scripts work? I tried looking in Tauwasser's Scripting Compendium, but the only information it has on it is at the very end where it basically just says they exist.

EDIT: If it helps, I'm trying to recreate Pokemon Red/Blue/Green on Gold. So far I've successfully done the part where Oak stops you from leaving Pallet Town and drags you to his lab. The problem I'm having is making a script activate when you enter the lab.

Oak's lab has to be in the trigger table, just like pallet town had to be. The script header will have a few pointers, which will be run based on what the trigger time is. (1st one when it is 00, second when 01, etc) as documented in the compendium for how to set up the pointers.
