First of all, I'll introduce myself. I'm CDGLMM (MM for shorter XD), new in this comunity and this is my first message. I came here while searching info for my "project", and I see you people as my last bet haha because I'm a little desperate.
To put you in context, I'll explain first what I have in mind and then what I have done.
What I want to do is quite simple. I like Pokémon Yellow a lot, and to play with my team in Stadium too, it's great. But first time I played Yellow was 12 years ago, and while then I loved the graphics, now they look awful for me (I'm mostly talking about the the pkmn front and back sprites): they have color mistakes, etc. So what I thought was: hey, G/S sprites use 4 colors too and they look farly better, I like them. So what if I change Yellow pkmn's sprites to G/S? I'll tell you what: omg wtf is this and how can I do it?????
Now, what I've done. I started to search a lot of information, web pages, read read and more read, followed by lots of program downloads. I tried a lot of them and nothing. The best I have got is AGIXP, but it seems to not work in R/B/Y (but it can export G/S front and back sprites, which is good).

But as I say, I can't get it to work. First I tried with AGIXP, following Mateo's tutorial. Everything seems to be right, but when I start the rom, my emulator (bgb) says: ROM checksum fails. A real GameBoy wouldn't care.
And the rom starts with no changes (the "changed" sprites still being yellow's ones).
Then I wanted to do it manually, as Danny-E 33 said, with Hexecute & Tile Molester. But I got lost in the hex numbers, I can't repoint with success and I don't know what I have to do exactly. I followed the process and copy&pasted the last step into the rom, then I started the rom and the emulator said the same message: ROM checksum fails. Charizard (my test subject) this time wasn't yellow's one; this time was a bunch of pixels XD. The best I got recently is the "Pointer to graphics adresses" for Yellow --> http://romendo.net/stag019/pokedex/test … ion=yellow.
I only want to put a revamp version of the first 151 G/S pokémon's sprites in Yellow (I take the 56x56 or 32x32 sprite, open it in paint and edit with more suiting colors, but respecting the "withe-color1-color2-black" rule). And I know it's possible because I've seen some people with hacked sprites in Yellow. But I couldn't find anything good in the Web and what I found here didn't help me at 100%.
So here I am, trying to get some help from someone to put the sprites in their places without glitches and problems, and willing to get some aid to my wish become true. If I can't, this will be my last try and I will cancel this little project :(

Isn't any tutorial about that or how to change the sprites with assembly?
Well, you're basically asking
"Isn't there a tutorial on how to build a car using knowledge of how to build a car."
If you knew assembly, you wouldn't be asking this question.
Having said that, there are tools out here that will compress picture data into the same format that RBGY uses. There are also tables out there that tell you where to find all sprite pointers. Now it would just be a matter of reinserting every sprite for every Pokémon.
Of course I don't know what is assembly, first time I hear abot it and I don't even know how does it works haha
I have been researching a little more and seems like assembly is the hill of rom hacking (at least Pokémon roms), right? Seems like you have to own all the "basic" and "intermediate" features in order to learn assembly. It sounds like it will take long time to do.

PS: also, I got another question about "ROM checksum fail". I supose it gave me this message because I did a bad job trying to put the sprites. So, if I can do it right, with all the things on their spots (like if it would be easy XD), this message won't appear, I'm correct? Or there is a way you must do to fix the rom after the repointing it's done?
Nevermind, I've been doing tests with AGIXP and Silver and the same message appears. Then I opened in bgb "debug", and found an option which says "fix checksums", save the "new" rom and now the message isn't showing anymore. I guess it works the same for Yellow.
