(GOLD) My battle with an EGG

Not sure if this is the right section for this, but since it is hacking related I figured it might be, if not, mods, please move to the appropriate section.

OK, I couldn't resist. Team Snag'em's GSC Trainer Editing tool had the option to put in ?????, EGG, and ????? as enemy trainer Pokemon. ?????'s glitch out the game, but EGG had some interesting results.

I replaced Red's Snorlax with an Egg (in my hack, it's at level 94), so the Egg had Snorlax's moveset (Curse, Rest, Sleep Talk, and Body Slam). What I've learned about EGG:
-No cry (to be expected)
-Starts off at about 1/2 HP when first sent out (EDIT: Doesn't start off at full HP, had most of it's HP when I changed EGG to a different spot in Red's party, had like infinite HP at some point too)
-Is apparently Psychic-type (EDIT: When changed to different slot, it became Dark-type)
-Is VERY fast, not quite fast enough at level 94 to out-speed a level 100 Mewtwo, but is out-speeding a lvl 100 Charizard (the 22nd fastest Pokemon in the game) pretty easily
-Does not have a good Attack, but pretty good Defense and Special Defense (EDIT: Ended up slower but with better attack upon changing part order)

With a decent moveset I could easily see an EGG-using trainer becoming an Easter egg (haha I made a funny) in my hack.

EGG is I believe species byte FD if you want to try this out and add to this thread.

Interesting!
Sorry if this is off topic, but could you send me that GSC Trainer Editor? I want to make one myself and need to see the format of it.

I don't calculate stat values, I don't breed my way to perfection, and I don't care about natures. I catch my Pokemon the way they are, and treat them like individuals instead of brainless drones.

Well the format of trainer data is documented here on the board, and would probably be more helpful to making an editor than looking at another one, especially since it wouldnt come with the source code

Mateo's right, but I'll send it to you anyway. I was glad someone had it because hex editing that stuff is tedious as hell, I was so angry when I heard it was taken down.

The tool: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9234170/GSCTrainerEditor.zip

I know how to hex edit, but it takes very long, so thank you so much for the tool! (:

Re: (GOLD) My battle with an EGG

It not take that long. But the problem is usually we don't know the list of the move. The example is me, when i want to give absorb to oddish, i type 01 in hex editor because A and B is the first and second alphabet. But it cause oddish to use another move.

Wait...it's not done like this.
Besides, the list of the moves were probably picked up a long time ago from the evolution (and moveset learning) data of the pokemon.

Use Giegue's Master Hacking Guide and see which byte represents Absorb in 2nd gen (as well as likely in the 1st one).
And, you can't basically find what you search with only one byte. You need to know more of its data.

Also, byte 80 represents "letter" A in a text box when font is first loaded.
B is 81, C is 82 etc.

Edit:
I'm going to give a simple example.
If there was a trainer who had a lv10 oddish that knows Absorb, Acid, Mega Drain and Solarbeam (in that order), you could find the trainer data this way.

(01) 0A 2B 47 33 48 4C

01 tells the game that the pokemon of this trainer know special moves
0A 2B = lv10 oddish
47 33 48 4C = moves
