Re: Pokemon Blue DX

Okay, I want folks to vote here. I'm trying to decide if I should leave the Rocket battle music as is, or if I should give it normal battle music like the old games.

Which should I do?

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

Seeing as it's a revamp I'd leave it as it is with rocket themed music.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

Well FR/LG was a remake and it didn't have Team themed music.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

I think you should leave the rocket battle music as is. And the screenshots look pretty sick, especially the trainer design

"You're not wearing shorts! What's wrong with you?" ~Youngster
"I’ve been pondering lately...how much longer will I be wearing shorts?" ~Youngster

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

Glad you like them. This game will use many revamped Trainer sprites from Yellow.

And since only 2 people have replied about the music. I guess I'll keep it that way.

You're making choices too fast if you really want someone to vote for something.
For instance I was sleeping through the whole music discussion.

Btw, all sprites can be used indoors so you can easily make the fossils look like what they should. The sprite number is something past 0x90 but there is a thread (which I can't link with my phone) where you can find all OWs and their hexadecimal "digits" in GSC.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

There are no fossil sprites in the game. I just looked up to 255 via JohtoMap...

Funny though, because the fossil Pokemon may have fossil sprites in the POKeMON menu.

Johtomap doesn't display spritespokemon sprites correctly.

Yeah, I just tested out a few "egg" looking sprites and they looked different in-game.

Thanks for telling me about this.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

I believe the fossil pokemon use a shelder style sprite in the menu. But what I did for SaR was replace one of the ones I wasn't using with a fossil. Same thing with the Old Man lying down in Viridian. I think I replaced either the trophies or a game system or something. I think the old man was the berry tree. Anyways, you could always do something like that. Or add new sprites. I haven't done that, but I think there is some documentation about it lying around somewhere.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

The only problem is there isn't a decent sprite editor for R/B out there that shows all the sprites.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

Hm, well if need be, I'll go through with that.

I've used the Shellder sprites for the moment until I'm reading to get to that.

Trying to figure out Miksy's tutorial on connections since I copied maps from PikaMap..

It's a real pain...

Lol'd at the fact you got banned on PC again XD

I didn't know Goldmap supported maps from the GB Roms, though it makes sense.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

This is a Red backsprite I made for Pokemon Secrets and Rumors. Mateo was unable to use it because Silver uses a slightly lower-res backsprite so I made a lower-res version. I personally like it a lot and if you want to use it you are welcome to do so, so long as you credit me:

redbacknew.png

I like it because it is an upgraded Red/Blue sprite rather than a downgraded LeafGreen/FireRed sprite. Just seems more appropriate to me.

Anyways, great hack so far from what I can see.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

Aye, but graphics wise no it is not. Unless you count the fact that Yellow had different colored maps, when red had Red colored maps and Blue had Blue colored maps on a GBC.

Link's Awakening DX was the whole game of LA, added with new content AND the whole game was recolored and remastered. So while Yellow is just short of it, it is not a "DX"

Sorry Capn, but I already had a revamped version of that sprite, and decided to go with the one someone else presented, should be on the first page somewhere.

But thanks.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

I saw it. I just don't like the Gen-2 look in what is a Gen-1 remake, but that's me. I'm still working on it for another project that I hope to upload at some point eventually. That's the wrong sprite anyways. I thought this was a Blue hack for some reason so that sprite would not even be able to work with this.

BTW, good work so far on this. I have not actually played it, because well I have played Pokemon Red/Blue about 6,000 times and see no reason to go for 6,001 at the moment, but if I ever do feel like replaying it decent chance I will be checking this thing out.

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

Sorry folks...

I ahve stepped down from this project long ago(since the beginning of this year actually). It became to stressful. Not only that, but I lost the version I was working on with the corrected bugs and finished Mt.Moon :( I have an older version that leads up to Mt.Moon(actually the beta is in this thread)but I probably won't be going back to it.

Besides, Mateo and his Secrets and Rumors seem to be going well so that kinda makes my game obsolete haha.

Thanks to everyone who has taught me about GBC Pokemon hacking. I still remember some things and it would probably come back to me if I went ahead and tried working again...but I don't have time for this anymore. If someone wants to take over, be my guess.

Peace :)

Re: Pokemon Blue DX

I thought the game was really fun, but I got too excited and supertrained until my only Pokemon was a level 42 Charizard... *epicfail* I trained way too much...

I haven't been on this site for a very long time. Sorry about that! >.<
I am probably not going to get very far in the ROM projects that I've started, at least until I get more experience hacking, so I apologize.
