I was wondering if it was possible to add more animated tiles, like flowers or the pillars in Sprout Tower.
I want to add a 2 or 3-framed tile of a star twinkling, and I don't really know where to start.
I am using Tauwasser's Tileset extension.

I've never tried to add completely new ones, honestly, so I'm not sure. But since you are setting your hack on a spa,e ship, will you still be needing the original flower and pillar animations, for example? You could replace those first. You've probably already done that, though, so maybe someone like Tauwasser will know more about adding completely new animations.

This should give you a good idea of how to achieve what you want.
Basically, I'd just have all animated tiles in VRAM0 and use the existing routines. But if you want to get fancy, you could add VRAM1 calls for all routines as well. But remember, the more time you spend to animate in one go, the more sluggish the whole thing is going to feel. Basically, at some point you will notice a slowdown, which is why all animations are split up like that into little sub-operations.
Hmm, I'll take a good look at that. I might replace the whirlpools since they don't have a purpose in my game at all, and won't be accessible to the player anyway. I have a feeling thatp ost will come in handy once I get some real progress done with my game.
