Okay, I made this thread for people to post major similarities between 1st Generation games (Red, Blue, Yellow), and 2nd Generation games (Gold, Silver, Crystal). Here are a few I have found, but there are many, many more:
1. The connection data in GSC is stored almost exactly the same as RBY. In fact, the only difference is that the mathematical formulas use different numbers, which isn’t too big of a difference.
2. The music data in GSC is almost the same as RBY’s music data. The only difference is that the some of codes are slightly different, such as the octave specifier is slightly different.
3. Many sprites in RBY have been recycled for use in GSC. Many tiles are also reused.
Okay, that’s only three, and I know there’s many more. Please list any you may find here!
Tileset and map data is stored in the same manner, although the tile effects and map headers and whatnot are different formats.
Also the type strength table is the same, the only difference is GSC added a byte to mark that the entries after it are cancelled out by foresight so normal can hit ghost.

They all have some form of Missingno-esque Pokemon... :D
Redux is 'on hold'. I have however found the files, but it's still (pretty much) dead at the moment.
I wonder if that's actually a good thing...

No, not really.
Well, Generation 1 has Missingno, Gen 2 has the fake egg and a couple other unused slots, gen 3 has the ????????? pokemon and the old unown data, and i have no idea about gen 4.

The Music in R/B/Y is different. There are alot more "instruments" for use in Gold and Silver. I couldn't even find a decent kick sound for my California Gurls track in my Red hack.
